So I picked up a Carver M1.0t amp thats on its way to me . That finishes up the amp dilemma for right now . I have enough cash to probably get it refurbished so its good to go for years. Here's the dilemma, I found a Sunfire True Subwoofer MK II sub for what I consider a very good price. Its NOT local to me, but I will be traveling to where its at for work next week.
I am curious how this sub compares to my PSW125. I obviously want to make sure its an upgrade otherwise I will either get my M1.0t refurbished or try to get another one

That Sunfire is a very nice compact sub. There's no comparison between the 125 and it IMO, the Sunfire is in another league altogether. It's not even really fair to compare them though given their prices...

Well the MK II I found is used and its going for less than I paid for my PSW125 new.
I am just trying to see if I should get the amp refurbed and stick with my PSW125 or get the Sunfire, sell my PSW125 and use that money as a starter fund for a an amp refurb."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." The amp is mint is it not? I can't remember if I asked you or not. Flip the sub and save for a amp service. It's a win-win scenario.

I have never heard a sunfire sub, so what I say is based on a fair amount of internet research since the size and output of those subs put them on my short list for awhile. Based on the reviews, I will concur with Danny. This sub should hit 18-20 hz at more than 100 db, where your current sub can maybe hit 30 hz at 90ish db?? So yes it should be a major upgrade for ht. But the other thing to consider is that those sunfire subs are known for having amp problems somewhere down the road, and sunfire wants something like 600 bones to fix the amp. This is why there are lots of sunfire sub parts (cabs and drivers) on ebay all the time.
I think drenis has a good suggestion; flip the sub and use the money to save for a more reliable sub. But again, take my advice with a grain of salt...Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es
Game Room 5.1.4: Denon AVR-X4200w; Sony UBP-x700; Definitive Technology Power Monitor 900 mains, CLR-3000 center, StudioMonitor 350 surrounds, ProMonitor 800 atmos x4; Sub - Monoprice Monolith 15in THX Ultra
Bedroom 2.1 Harmon Kardon HK3490; Bluesounds Node N130; Polk RT25i; ACI Titan Subwoofer -
I've heard and spent lots of time with the Sunfire sub. It's a significant upgrade over the PSW125, it's not even close.

well here's some thought. Although I have never had a Sunfire sub (always wanted one) I gave up on them when I knew several friends that had one at one time or another. Many had problems and one fellow Polk forum member who I've talked with has one that although in good shape the amp is another story. Most can't be fixed So if it were me I'd get the serial number and give Roland a call and hash out the pros and cons of getting said unit....couldn't hurt.
From what I understand some of the models parts are non-existent. -

The amp is in working condition and looks darn near mint. I have enough now to upgrade it off the bat, though I dont think it needs it. I bought it from a trusted source.
The sub is going for way under its normal asking price. I am going to look into it just because. I am reading up on the amps and whatnot.
I might buy the Sunfire, keep it for a bit and then sell it if it works good."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

I will see about doing that. Sounds like a smart idea."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
I'm very happy with my Sunfire. Unbelievable bass for the size. I paid $400 plus shipping (I think) and consider that to be a pretty good deal.
I'd buy it and sell the 125.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden -
I put a bid in on another M1.0t. If that doesn't pan out we will see what I end up doing. I have time since I won't be able to pick up the sunfire till the 10th. If he won't demo it for me though it's a deal breaker."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted."
