Seek help on A9
I have a Denon 1612CI, plan to get 2 front speakers and now comparing A9 with Orb Mod2.
I wonder if this baby can drive the A9 speakers or the best I can pair with 1612 is A7?
thanks in advance!

The A9's really need an amp, so get the A7's.Political Correctness'.........defined

Jesse is right. There is no way the 1612 can handle the A9s. It might not even be able to do justice to the A7s. You should really think about stepping up the Denon line a bit if you're going to run some serious A series towers if you can at all budget for it.
The 1612 is Denon's entry receiver, isn't it? What's it run? 75 watts x 2 and then a serious drop in all channel (7.1) wattage?

If you have $400. You might consider tboo72's Pioneer 1121 on sale in the flea-market here.
A bit more power and pre-outs that would allow you to add more amplification so as to handle A9s in the future!

Take a look.

thanks for all of your help.
I realized that the 1612 was too entry level. So I guess Orb will be a better choice if I have to put up with it. But I really like the sound of A9, once I was in the local showroom, I listened and feel like nothing can compare.
There was a deal for 3312 for only 500$ couple weeks ago, and I went cheap with 1612, now feel so regret... -
Don't know the Orbs, I've seen ads for those but aren't they just "satellite" sized speakers! If you're going to consider satellites take a look at Polk's new Blackstone TL3s. An excellent choice if you want some of the tech from Polk's best full sized speakers in a smaller package!

Give these a listen and compare to the Orbs?
