Simple vintage rig that performs really well...

So, I hooked up an Adcom Power amp 535 with a pair of JBL L20t bookshelf, sourced directly from MOG HD streaming via an iPad mini-headphone jack.
Tuned it in to MOG's Patricia Barber radio.
It sounds as big, clear, and wide soundstage, with plenty of tight mid-bass as bigger speaks.
I was planning to make it a garage rig, but it sounds more like a worthy living room rig, and I am sure it will compete pretty well with any sub $2K system.

I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I'm not surprised because I'm a bit of a fan of that series of JBL and own the larger towers. The bookshelves, may, in fact, be the gem of the series because they image a little more due to their smaller size, tighter bass (smaller driver), etc.
Very nice!
Enjoy!

Thats great. I do enjoy the older JBL stuff. Sounds like a nice rig. Enjoy.

Thanks! I am impressed with what technology has done. I bought the bookshelf back in 1988 from Circuit City and remembered how it performed with a pair of Hafler 110/220, and can't say the bass and mid were as tight as it is now. Given the fact that all Patricia Barber's recording are top notch combined with MOG's superior streaming technology, it must have been the secret recipe here..I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter.
