Soldering newbie here

I was about to refoam my woofers on a pair of "The Smaller Advents" and have been thwarted by the fact that the wires to the woofer are soldered on. I have never soldered anything before. I think that this should be relatively easy and hard to mess up so I thought I might give it a shot.

Any suggestions for the type of Soldering kit I should buy? Do I need a separate desoldering kit?

Thanks!

A good iron is key, along with a clean tinned tip. As far as desoldering kit? I think a solder wick or a solder sucker maybe helpful and needed as you're a newbie.

    Youtube it and good luck.

In my experience, solder wick is much easier to use than a solder sucker (depending on the amount of solder to be removed). However, some wick is better than others. The wick that is pre-treated with flux attracts solder much easier and faster than that without.

Depending on the connection, you may be able to just heat it and remove the wires, then do some cleanup afterward. Or snip the wires off first, then clean up the terminals.
