Part out to make extra bucks or sale as a whole for less?

I hate to trash cabinets so will sell speakers as a whole for less than what I would have made have I sold the parts.
For example, I have an offer of $40 for 4.6's and I can sell the two SL2500 tweeters alone for over $50 + mids for another $40 or so.
What's your thoughts?
Part them out or sell as a whole?

Sell them whole, I hate when people part out perfectly good speakrs to maximize $$$. Unless the parts are ultra rare and can help someone out specifically.

Thanks for chiming in.
His offer is firm and I'm leaning towards accepting it.
I know I can make twice that if I part out but it'll be a waste of nice set of speakers.

If they are in good shape, please keep them whole.
I only part out speakers when the cabs are shot. -
I think you're all overlooking the obvious question here....what does your buyer intend to do with the speakers?
If he/she is planning to just take them and part them out to turn a profit, then maybe you should do it yourself. :frown: Or, better yet, find a different buyer who's planning to keep them intact and enjoy them in all their vintage glory.
Best case: the buyer gets them, leaves them intact, becomes a new/newborn Polkie, joins CP and becomes an informed and valued contributor! -
Talked to the buyer and he has a small collection of Polks including 5 JR's, 11T and some others already.
Will let these 4.6's go to him.
Hopefully, he'll enjoy them at least for a while.

I agree with Teekay here. There is a reason the buyer is firm. is it someone who really wants the speakers and that's all they have? Or are they a buyer who would not pay anywhere near what they would sell them for. I hate to see good vintage stuff parted out and would sell for less than total parts value but would not sell for that much less. Part them out and make you a cool toolbox out of the cabinets sit them around and hide stuff from the wife inside the empty cabs, all kinds of uses for empty cabinets. Don't consider just the tweets and mids but the term cups and crossovers as well.If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of Progress?!

Sold them for a measly $40.
But need to cull the herd.
Next in line are Advent prodigy towers and Allison AL-120.
