Need advice on a center speaker for new system
In a new house I'm putting a surround and I plan to use a pair of vintage SDA 2s for the front, a pair of RC 85i for the rear and need advice for what to use for the center speaker and subwoofer. These will be used with a Sony 9100ES amp.
I was given a pair of Phoenix Gold ATi6 (125 watt, 8 ohm with a 6.5" cone and a tweeter) and was wondering if I could connect these in parallel to use as a center or just use one? I'd rather have all Polk, but spouse wants to save money for blinds, curtains and other unimportant stuff. I would consider an older used speaker as the new Polks are a bit expensive for me. I'm thinking a center speaker in the $300 range.
All suggestions appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Bill

Monitor 7's. Used typically go for $100-$120. Just use one, and keep the other as a back up. All you will ever need as a center.
And for your sub, two of these would do well: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Definitive-Technology-ProSub-100TL-240V-BLACK-P-N-E1U3-/180397109023?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item2a00816f1f
A while back, I had two 200TL's which are the 12 inch versions and they performed wonderfully.Display: Sony 42" LCD
Sources: Harman Kardon DVD-27,
Panasonic DMP-BDT110 blu ray player
AVR: Sony STR-DA2400ES
Amps: Sonance Sonamp 260(fronts),
Kenwood KM-894(surrounds)
Fronts: NHT 2.5
Center: NHT VS-1.2A
Surrounds: NHT Super One
Subwoofer: SVS PB10-ISD -

I bought 2 pro sub 60's from these guys and they have performed,flawlessly....FYI...These 100TL's are 240v only, you would need a step-up transformer to use them in the US.....still a terrific deal,imo.....peter
