bookies in the house

Well I did it again.I saw what seemed like a deal on c/l for a pair of JBL 2026 bookies. Now first impression I thought they would be bigger but for their size I'm amazed at what they are putting out. The guy wanted $20 and of course I halved that w/ metal offset stands. Right now for a quickie test they are in the living rm w/ all the other sets and kinda look like younger brothers. The next move will be into the bedroom where they fit and look the part. Believe it or not I think they go deeper then my facacta Infintys. One other thing not a scratch on them and grills are a 9/10.I sure glad I went for that speaker selector....

What the heck are they? I have never heard of or seen JBL 2026's.
Can you show us a picture or find a site with them?
I am interested in what you might have there. -
I'm with Joe on this. I'm pretty familiar with most series of JBL since the early '80s but I've never seen this number and some time on the internet yesterday after reading this thread turned up "nothing". So I'm also at a loss.
Is there an error in the number. Should there be fewer digits?
And pics would be nice! I know a lot of guys don't like the JBL sound. But I kind of grew up with it and still have a set in my rig below. They did make some nice speakers in their day.

cnh, off topic but thats a really nice pre you've got in your sig. I am somewhat jealous ."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963)

Thanks!
I really like that piece it's so "not there", lets the NAD do its thing with the LSIs (that NAD is an 80 watter x 2) more than enough for what it's dealing with!
The great thing is that I got that pre-amp from a guy who had it for one year and bought it NOS. I couldn't believe it, he had all the paper work and info with it, in plastic protectors. And there is not a scratch or anything on it. It is as MINT as you can get and it didn't cost me any more than the going price for those.
Been very happy with it.

Because I'm so technically inadequit I have no camera and my camera on the cell phone does not have picture service. Now that's out of the way these speakers are all over E-Bay and go low $40 and I think on the high sid $60 and up .They are in fact JBL 2060and I clearly screwed the #s up.I don't remember when they came out but I'm sure Mr. Google will take care of that.About the pre. I've had minor difficulties w/ Monster Cable and their grip o' death but it was fixed and works great, many inputs and has the motorized volume control.I also found the remote at a flea market so the package is complete.Halo said that he had one and loved it and wished he got another. I'm now looking at either an Adcom pre or maybe the Phase Linear 4000 auto corollation pre which I kinda have a hard-n for....2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

OK, that takes care of that. This was a nice series, a step below the series I have in my sig but still pretty solid!

I had a feeling it might be them. 2060's are pretty darn nice speakers. Clean highs with definite beef to the low end for such a small speaker. Just watch how much treble you feed them. They can get a little gritty with the metal tweeters.
You should enjoy those for a long while. They sound much better than there cost would have you believe. And they don't look bad either. -
No kidding,I'm shocked at how low and pretty defined they are. For $10 w/ these offset stands I think I scored big in a little way. Clearly I have to ditch my Infintys, I want towers of some kind to replace them so there are no holes in the decor. In the hunting I've done I still have never seen any larger Polks or Klipsch for that matter anywhere around here.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E
