Help my Silvers sound terrible I am sure I am not doing something right.Just bought them with new woofers and rebuilt ribbons.Hooked them up and almost started X-over on fire!!!No I am not joking. So I Bi Amped them with no improvement in sound just less smoke. At 40 watts the 12's distort, the ribbons don't at 40 watts but I am afraid I am going to damage these Loudspeakers. They look great but sound terrible!!! Are these speakers capable of rocking?I am not new to audio but maybe I am just missing something. Please somebody tell me I am doing something wrong and these speakers will be OK.I am powering them with 150 watts lows and 150 watts highs with active X-over at 150 Hz.I understand they require a break in period. But I am afraid there wont be anything left after 20-40 hrs.

Help!!!!!!!

Other then an amp with a dc voltage, not sure why a crossover would smoke. Does everything sound ok with some other speakers?

Sounds like you have something crossed up in the wiring.

What are you powering them with? Not just wattage actual name of item powering them.

Yes I have been using this same system for years with a nice set of four 12-TR cerwin vegas and four carvin 15" subs with great performance. Something has me suspicious of the 12" replacement drivers in the silvers dynovox WP1220 these woofers do not have any numbers stamped anywhere does anybody have experiance with these componants I sure would thank you for your info.

It would be best if you had only one thread, ask one of the mods to combine them.

Anyway, I asked you a bunch of questions in your other thread.
