I found a huge scratch over 14 inches on my almost new lsi15, you can feel it with your nail...

Only culprit is my 3 year old neice that comes over on occasion...

I guess the resale value just dropped by 300 dollars

Sell the niece to make up the difference. I'd price her at $500 for some negotiating room and to cover the paypal. Now, I know what you're thinking - UPS will be pretty rough. So go Fedex and insure for the 5 bills. Or give her a hug and put on some Neil.
    Feeling your pain,

Easy solution - don't sell the speaker! :)

Seriously though, maybe you could gift the 15s to her in the next 20 years when you upgrade.
Do you hear that buzzing noise?

You can feel it with your nail! So I assume you can also "see" it from a distance, or not? Because that's the real test!

Also, where is the scratch, on the black plastic face or the wood siding?

I wonder if carnauba wax would work on the glossy black surfaces. Anyone tried this?

I have a small ding/scratch on my lsi15 (wood). Is there a way I can sand and stain it again?

I use Zaino on all high gloss speakers with fantastic results!

The trick to not scratching any type of paint/car is to use a nice clean cloth that has no hint of fabric softener on it...

Excellent. Zaino is new to me. I'll definitely give it a try. Thanks Trey!

If the scratch is one the black area, it will be extremely hard to repair. You could try to use a automotive polish to try and buff it out... Use a fine abrasive finisher and a soft cotton or microfiber cloth for this... only use aggresive polishes if needed. I am not sure how deep the black finish is. If the black paint was not scratched deep enough to penetrate the paint, you should be able to minimize the damage. If you can polish it out, then use a wax or sealant over it. Note that waxes are usually statically charged when buffed so it will attract dust like a magnet. On the other hand, some sealants may leave iridiscent streaks in the finish, especially over black so test it on the back of the speakers first.

Regarding the cherry or ebony wood. Polk stains the wood then clearcoats it with a polyurethane. The polyurethane will prevent any further staining unless the damage penetrates it. Even then, it might be hard to match the finish.

There are ways to repair that type of damage, sanding and restaining is not one of them. Take it to a pro.
