Hi all,
I am building a home theater and need some rear surround sound speakers. I have Polk Monitor 7s as my front L and R, and a Monitor 5JR as my center.
I have a set of Polk Monitor 10s in great shape with RDO-194 tweeters that I purchased here on the forum (thanks Mike!!) that I just don't use enough anymore, and would be willing to negotiate a trade with anyone who has a set of Polk Monitor 7s or smaller speakers in the Monitor series to match my 7s in the front.
I'd keep the 10s, but they're too big to go in the rear of my system and I find that my 7s are better matched for music and film in the front with my subwoofer.
If you have a set of Monitor 5s or 7s, or something else that would be a good match with my Monitors in the front, please let me know. I'm located in the DC area and would prefer a local deal- I think the 10s would be pretty expensive to ship.
Thanks!

Rromeo- I just sold George a 5jr+ to use as a center and he was great to work with. Hope you both can work out a good deal.2-ch System: Parasound P/LD 2000 pre, Parasound HCA-1000 amp, Parasound T/DQ Tuner, Phase Technology PC-100 Tower speakers, Technics SL-1600 Turntable, Denon 2910 SACD/CD player, Peachtree DAC iT and X1asynchorus USB converter, HSU VTF-3 subwoofer.

Not sure if you got what you needed or not, but I have a nice pair of 5Bs with Peerless tweeters that might work for you.

Thanks RRomeo for stopping by yesterday with a car full of Polks to test! We demo'd quite a selection on my system: RRomeo's early Polk Monitor 7s (serial # 523), 5s and 7s with Peerless tweets, and my own 10s with the RDO-194 tweeters. Really a great time. Obviously all the 5s and 7s sounding absolutely fabulous - what was interesting to me was that the 5s really don't give any bass up to the 7s. The highs and mids on the early Monitor 7s were breathtaking as well. Once again I couldn't discern a loss of bass due to the smaller PR either.
The biggest surprise of all were my Monitor 10s with the upgraded tweeters - I had had these plugged in to several vintage receivers (pioneer SX-9000, Sony STR-7065), and was not at all impressed - the midrange was flabby and highs too laid-back. But with my Pioneer VSX-820k, they were completely different - full and round with terrific detail and high range. Bass was accurate and not overdone. Imaging was also much improved over what I remembered. I almost didn't want to trade them after that!!! But RRomeo and I worked out a trade that we're both happy with, and he walked away with the 10s - I hope he's as happy with them as I was.
I owe RRomeo a visit now to hear the rest of his collection! Thanks for the visit!!
And now I have a full Polk Monitor 5.1 surround system: Monitor 7s in front, Monitor 5JR center, Monitor 5s out back, and a PSW110 subwoofer, plugged into that Pioneer VSX-821k. Very happy.HT System:

It was certainly a pleasure meeting with George. The 10's certainly are stunning w/the RDO 194's. One thing though. On one of the Monitor 5's I traded to George, one of the mw 6500's froze up during transit. I need to make this right.
If anyone has an extra please let me know.I got static in my head

rromeo923- I've got several laying around for future projects so I'm sure I can spare one. I would want to jb weld the driver before shipping (something I've not done before, but looks easy enough). If George can wait till early next week for me to ship then we can work something out. PM your contact # again -my cell phone died with all my contacts and we can work out details.2-ch System: Parasound P/LD 2000 pre, Parasound HCA-1000 amp, Parasound T/DQ Tuner, Phase Technology PC-100 Tower speakers, Technics SL-1600 Turntable, Denon 2910 SACD/CD player, Peachtree DAC iT and X1asynchorus USB converter, HSU VTF-3 subwoofer.
