Why people can't just do the right thing...it would have taken maybe an extra 2 minutes to unpack that truck properly. What an a'hole.

When my PSB Synchrony One towers arrived, they came via Fed-Ex. At the time, these were the most expensive speakers I had ever bought, so I was a bit apprehensive. The Fed-Ex truck was the type that had a lift on the back since the bed was 3-4 feet above ground. The first speaker the Fed-Ex just stood on end and dropped to the pavement. I went ballistic, and ran outside screaming like a psycho. I made the fool bring both speakers inside, and I would not sign for them until I unpacked and carefully examined each one. They were packed really well, so I added almost 30 minutes onto his time.

I then called Audio Adviser and told them what Fed-Ex did, and while the exterior of the speakers appeared okay, there was no way to tell if the cross-overs PCB, or anything else internal was damaged, and might fail prematurely. They said they would note this and add a year onto my warranty. Anyway, they are now 4 years old, and still working great. So, I got lucky, but I'm sure others have not been as lucky.

I should take pictures of the boxes my RTi-A9's came in, they were in way worse shape than the pictures above. I picked them up at my local UPS store and they had them on a 4 wheel cart and rolled them out to my van. The sides that I could see looked pretty rough but they help me load them in the van and I took them home, when I slid them part way out of the van and stood them up I was shocked! Huge holes and torn and ripped on the side I didn't see, the styrofoam packing on the inside was all crushed and broken, I was freaking out. Like everyone else when you order something new you can't wait to start using them but I was on pins and needles worrying if these were going to work or not. Luckily there was no damage to the speakers but the boxes are trashed. I hate how UPS handles packages. Everytime I order something heavy I worry what shape it will be in when I get it. I seem to have much better luck with FedEx for some reason.

You can't just blame the shipping companies. Most of the heavy towers/subs should be shipped by manufacturers or dealers by attaching them to a pallet. When I bought my Usher Dancer Mini 2 Diamond DMD and Polk LsiM707 sets, they were shipped that way and the boxes looked great. I mean it would be hard for the delivery guy to toss a pallet, and he has to use a pallet jack to move them, so the boxes will definitely arrive safely.

I don't blame the shipping companies, although I did use the generic term Fed-Ex while thinking of a specific delivery. The problem is employees who do not care if the package is damaged or not. Perhaps, the emphasis on speedy delivery can be a partial excuse, but it still boils down to the individual. Like everything else, it only takes a few to ruin a reputation.

UPS will never again see a dime of my business after I found size 12 boot prints on the sides of my Magnepan MG-20 boxes. The things were clearly marked as "FRAGILE" and "Delicate Electronic Device" in big black bold print by the folks at Magnepan. The bottom line is that they just don't give a **** anymore about doing a qualty service despite getting paid BIG dollars for doing it.

I was at my sisters earlier and she ordered some type of shadow box looking thing, pretty large, shipped Fed-Ex.

The box looked like Fed-Ex either ran over it or threw it out of the plane as they flew over her house.

Minor damage to the product itself (and it was double boxed!), but I was still PI$$ED about it and did a search to file a complaint and thats how I cam across these videos.

Makes me sick that they cannot hire someone that can take a package 5 yards without dropping/kicking/throwing it.

Here is another "amp" nightmare (OMG, I WOULD GO OFF!!!!!!):

I would be happy to make their salary and deliver things. The perks for shipping within the company would be great. Too bad there are those who ruin it.
