Life is way tooooooo short to listen to marginally average tubes.

Spend the money, get the good stuff, find what you like, and buy some spares.

That is all :razz::cool:

    Just as good as Bendix, cause MU Engineering bought out the Bendix Redbank division.

    A quad of these will be mine one of these days. If I can just grab them at a reasonable price one of these times. I can buy them NOS from a dealer for a cool $485/quad. Such a deal :eek:

    Bendix 5992 (6V6GTY equivalent) :biggrin:

    Nice one with the Genalex. I can't wait to try those.

    I save these, along with many other types for special occasions.

    You know, those of you who have "wet" your feet in the "tube" market, should post a Sticky called "Tubes for Newbs". Would also be a great resource.

    I suppose we have some of this above!

    Various 5AR4/GZ34 rectifiers. New production Ruby on right, NOS from RCA branded to Heath branded Mullard. The Heath was purchased in pictured condition. I am careful not to rub any lettering/markings off tubes when handling. I use a cut resistant Dyneema (like rubber but better) glove when rolling tubes to avoid fingerprints and maintain a firm grip while installing/removing them from socket.

    Rich, you still have that many Philips made 5AR4/GZ34's after selling me 3? You were hoarding them, weren't you! :lol::lol:

    My latest additions to the 12AU7/Ecc82 family.

    1956 Westinghouse 12AU7A, very rare actually manufactured by Westinghouse not a rebrand like so many later Westinghouse. Square getter on copper post, dull charcoal long plates, funky heater wire connection with production code "337" many say it's a cross between the Amperex 7316 and RCA long plate in sound, tighter and more dynamic than the RCA with the 3-D properties and high end clarity of the Amperex 7316. We will see if that is the case.

    Westinghouse12AU7_001.jpg

    In the same lot I also got a trio of 1960 Mullard (Bogen) 12AU7/Ecc82 made at the Mitcham plant, semi-rare short plate without any military designation. Many of the Mitcham made tubes were military branded for the Royal British military. It seems as though many of the re-branded Mullard tubes came from Mitcham as I have a pair of Heath (Mullard) 12AT7/Ecc81 also from Mitcham plant and that is a very nice tube.
