Vacation 2012 - where did you go or plan to go?

We just got back from a road trip to Sequoia National Park - and it was amazing?
Was worried it would be too hot - but at 7000ft the daytime temp was upper 70's and the evenings were cool.
Walked a LOT of trails - and saw the big Sequoias (General Sherman Tree, General Grant, and more).
It wasn't really crowded at all - on some trails we were the only ones and sometimes while driving I felt like I had the whole road to myself.
Here are some pics I snapped with my cheapy compact digital camera:

Oceanside is just up the coast from my house, but never really thought of it as a vacation destination.
Do tell....what did you do that was amazing?

We'd planned to go to Ocean City, MD or VA Beach, VA. UNTIL we rescued a heartworm positive dog from S. Carolina, whose treatments will require absolute quiet and rest for the next 60 days. (started this Wed.) Maybe the beach in the early Fall is now indicated! BTW...there's lot's more where ours came from......a whole bunch of Carolinians have No Business owning dogs and are either incapable or unwilling to take even basic care of them. If interested in saving a life, let me know, I'll hook you up.

Went to Space coast of Florida in the spring. Very enjoyable.
We're going to Yellowstone in late summer. Never been but I have wanted to go for a long time.
I am really looking forward to it.Front - Polk LSiM 705, Center - Polk LSiM 704c, Rear - Polk LSi 7

Just got back from a road trip to Denver. Spent some time in the Rockies, took a couple of side trips to WY and NM. 3,900 miles in 11 days."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

Whereabouts in NM did you go?
I consider NM my 'soul' home....maybe I'll retire there someday.

Been to the cliff dwellings and Mogollon ? Had lot's of fun at both locations. My parents used to keep a house in Pinos Altos and it's where my mom is now buried.

Didn't that area just recently burn with the wild fires?
I read that Mogollon had to be evacuated.
Been to the Gila Wilderness on backpacking trips as a youth - beautiful wilderness.

Man, spent some time there after a trip to Napa, it was like 40 minutes away and a great drive. There's actually 2 Bodega Bays. One on the ocean, and one inland a tad where they filmed alot of "The birds" movie. Had some of the best clam chowder ever, anywhere on the bay from a roadside shack. Did you eat at that joint on the ocean next to where the fishermen bring in their daily catch ? The sea lions make a good time out of it and then yak it up all night. Glad you had a good time. You took the coast home I hope. Last time I was there HWY 1 was closed down by the Hearst Castle, had to take a long detour but that alone was pretty interesting.HT SYSTEM-

off to finland in july...they're having a cold and rainy summer so far...if it's still crappy, we'll hop in a plane for warmer climes...a 2 hour flight from helsinki should do..flying within europe is easy and cheap, too

Tony we have been going to Bodega for almost 30 years, there are some great restaurants there. We did get the clam chowder from the shack it was delicious. We didn't get to Lucas wharf this time although they have good food,we try to hit different places each time we go. There are some beautiful little towns inland a bit from bodega,I never get tired of it.Nothing fancy but it does things for the soul,we try to go over 2-3 times a year. Two hours from my door to Bodega bay. There's not many places on the coast we don't like.If you get a chance go up north from Bodega the drive is great.

Is Goatfeathers, the restaurant, still there? We just returned from Grayton Beach/Gulf Trace rental beach house in Florida. It was AWESOME. Stayed in the NE part of the state. Came across the Raton Pass, went to Clayton then back over to Taos before heading back to CO."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

Unless I'm specifically going someplace in either Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg....I do everything I can to avoid them (I know the backroads)...and will in fact try to do so tomorrow. I'm meeting a buddy up on the mountain and we are going to do an overnight backpack on the AT. Hopefully I will be going through early enough to avoid all the tourist."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

I have two weeks off in July, and I'm taking a couple of days to take a nice little trip on the Harley. I plan on riding to see the Woodstock museum and visit the Woodstock Harley Davidson dealership, then go to the Baseball Hall Of Fame. I can't wait!!
Look around for my roach clip would ya ? I lost it in 69 and would like to find it.
