I use an Audio Mirror PP1. Nice solid 7 tube phono/line preamp with 6Z4-12B4A-12AU7 in the power supply. 12AU7 for the MC input, 12AT7 for MM input and 12AX7s in the output stage. Alot of preamp for the $ and very flexible with tube changes in each stage making for a wide variety of tonal differences. No need to change out my preamp since getting this unit. I just roll a different configuration into place.

THAT SIR, IS THE SHINNIZLE!!!!
That is killer!
Why, oh why do I find myself saying "that is the shinnizle" about your equipment all the time Carl?
!
Thanks! But you have me confused with my friend Carl, the other half of the two guys in the white van selling speakers at the last Polk Fest. I'm Rich (in name). Carl does have some fab gear though! His latest pre is a Rogue Super Magnum with 6SN7 tubes.
The ModWright tube rectified PS is pretty robust. I use a Holland Black Base 5AR4 Kuhl-Tube in my rectifier. They have metal base innards and were less costly than paying the extreme $Ka-Ching$ metal base price. One thing about the ModWright 5687 pre's is they are hard on output tubes. Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Prety modest stuff here, I use a B&K PT-5 regularily in my office system.
Once in a while, I plop in one of my two surplus NAD 1600's.
Very different sounds, with an edge to the B&K for "cleanliness". -

wew! there it is....extremely transparent.. i've run my SQB direct and it sounds mountains better with this sweetie..i removed the tube ring thingies...ive been running some rca's for over 2 years now... i love them, i see no reason to roll right now -
Right now I am running a Adcom GFP-565. Not a bad preamp but I am ready to move to tubes and will do that in the near future. I am looking at a Dared SL-2000A or a Bottlehead Foreplay III. I am still 6 months or so away from doing anything but I have it on my mind quite a bit.SDA2BTL

All I have are an Onkyo P-301 which is a pretty spiffy pre-amp for what you're gonna pay for it.
The other one I have is just an Adcom GFP-750. Again, probably nothing to write home about but it is quite nice and mine is apparently a coveted "blue board" version.
Got them both used. The oinker from some lady selling off the spoils of her divorce and the Adcom from someone here but it was a couple years ago now and I can't remember who.Expert Moron Extraordinaire
You're just jealous 'cause the voices don't talk to you! -
OK, OK, Bringing up the "lower end" of things but still pretty darned good.
See the Nakamichi CA-5 and a slightly higher model of Jstas's Onkyo, the P-304 (a great performance to value piece because you can find them at such a low cost)
My Nakamichi CA-5 was NOS for about $200, and the Onkyo a little over $150 from a fellow Polkie (both for $350 and even my wife couldn't complain that much). If you're looking for some really nice low budget pre-amps, look no further!
I alternate the Nak with the NAD 214 and an Adcom GFA-545. The Onkyo I use with an Adcom GFA-555 when I need MORE power--which is NOT that often.
See stock pics below. Nak CA-5 exterior is borrowed from a fellow Polkie's post on this site! I do NOT own the matching Onk amp with the lovely meters in the photo:

People are all over the place with their pres here. From the low end to the "ridiculous", from two channel to HT, etc. As for me I'd have trouble spending more than 350 for a two channel pre-amp (used) because my wife would evict me.
Probably too rich for my blood if that pre-amp, above, is "new"! lol

He's right, I use an Onkyo TX-8555 for music right now that sounds nice but will eventually get some kind of Adcom for power, I also have an Adcom GFP-1A that just sits there lolHome theater:
