Just got this e-mail, and thought I'd share. Wonder if they do a full calibration, or if some kid stands there and says "yup - looks good to me"

On a side note, I called to schedule my free $250 calibration, and they are booked out until 7/24. Then I inquired about my current purchases, since you need $2500 a year to stay at Silver. They said I was only at $190, but once my "pending transaction for $2100 hits, I'll only be a couple hundred away"

"WHAAAAAAAAT?" I say. I guess someone in Virginia has a nice iPad and Macbook courtesy of me. This will be the second time this year I've had to close my BB account. No other accounts have been comprimised - just this one. Twice. I smell a rat. I guess it was good I called and started asking questions.

You should try to call and schedual a paying calibration to see if they are booked out until 7/24 or if just the free ones are booked out that far.

Thanks for the heads up. Going to try to get this done. Hopefully it is a nationwide thing and not just regional.

Geek Squad guy came out, had his ISF certifications and used his colorometer & laptop to do the calibration (Samsung PN58C8000 plasma). Guy was real nice, explained to me what he was doing and was done in about 45 minutes. I didn't expect drastic changes, but there is a subtle change. He said my TV was fairly close out of the box and in his experience Samsung's are pretty good with Hitachi and Mitsubishi's being the worst.

Anyhow, it was free and I'm happy. Again thanks for the heads up.

TV's are better than ever with regards to accuracy--why it took us this long, I don't know. I always got very satisfying results just using DVE for cal.

No its a national thing. They upgraded their rewards zone silver members to allow them to do a free cali or I think another service offered by them. My buddy is going to do a cali on his TV and see how it turns out. Also I know they get a 60 day return window now which is super nice.
