Just about to pick one up,any thoughts or suggestions before I do?New to tubes, I've been reading all the threads here I can find.Does anyone have a extra set of nos tubes they would like to sell?I am a bit leary of the bay until learn more about tube rolling.Any helpful links to learn about what replaces what in the tube world?Any input would help.Thanks Dan

I have a pair of hand matched SEIMENS ( VERY SIMILER TO TELEFUNKEN SOUND). HAVE less than a 100 HOURS ON THEM JUST BROKEN IN. GOT THEM FROM BRETT JESSEE ON THE NET. Perfect in all ways. Incredible sound. Pm me with ?

I can probably dig up something for you. I do have a Tungram (made in england) 5Z4G rectifier I can sell. It's a nice one and you need a nice rectifier, it make a very big difference. It's a spare or I'd keep it. Let me know. It's new, only used by me for about 5 hours to ensure it worked properly.

Well I'll be a ......!! Steppin' up your game ?? Nice my friend, really nice. Your in for a treat for sure. Take H9's advice, he has extensive knowlege with these units and can be a good guide for tubes to use. Being new to tubes, your older ears will really dig this unit. Also, be carefull handling tubes as they can be like eggshells and wear gloves when handling. Looking forward to your thoughts.

I love my SL 2000A... Best audio purchase to date.

I've put in some Mullard 12at7 tubes and a Brimar 5z4g rectifier and I love the sound. I might try some new Pre tubes though, I thing the bottom end is still a little sloppy for me.

I'm still waiting for Joe to get back to me,I sent some questions Sunday afternoon and have not heard back.I guess everyone needs time off .
Max,I have done alot of searches this Dared seems to tickle most everyone's fancy.
H9,I keep reading your holy grail thread by the time I get to page 8 I am back to being confused again.Sometimes the codes just get scrambled in my head.

Dan, just ask me any specifics about the tubes, codes, etc. Even I need to review the info once in awhile because my head spins as well. I have learned to identify many tubes by just looking and studying the internals and in some cases the actual bottle, etc.

I'm tracking the sl-2000 on ebay and audiogon...once I saw pics of Heiney's I-30....I started heading down the rabbit-hole(lol)

We like to encourage folks to try new things Dan, thats how you discover certain things about your own likes and dislikes with audio. How far down that rabbit hole you go depends entirely on you.....and your wallet, maybe your wife's wallet too.....kids college fund, retirement plan......:cheesygrin::cheesygrin::cheesygrin:

Did ya grab yourself some good interconnects to hook up the Dared ? I'm laughing inside because I know once you hear tubes, your gonna become a tube addict and a whole nutha dimension in audio is going to open up for you.

BTW- I hope you don't take as long as Brock, aka H9, to do a review. I'd like to hear your thoughts before my 60th birthday.

What can I do to bring out the best in them.Tubes!!So here we go,I have the proper speakers the belles amp sounds good so now I need a two channel Pre.I do have to pick up some good interconnects too,I guess the audioquests are not going to do it.Every time I listen to the SDAs I get a big grin on my face as I melt into my chair.I'm having a blast,each new thing I try is an adventure down the rabbit hole.I suck at reviews but maby I will have the wife take a picture of my big cheesey grin with her new Ipad I used to butter her up with.

Doesn't have to be a magazine article Dan, just some first impressions, maybe whatever differences you notice in the sound....stuff like that. Let those tubes warm up a tad too before jammin' your tunes. Actually my friend, I am looking at the same pre and waiting for your observations. We both have ears in the same age catagory, older than dirt.

I have been listening to this pre now for a few hours,what a difference it makes.It's a Beautiful thing,I cant believe changing from a receiver to a pre makes this much difference.I started out with some music that I know very well,the voices are more forward and clear.The bass is much better,you can feel it thumping in your chest the overall tone is just better.To me the Dared pre and Belles amp blend so well,I cant get this stupid grin off my face.Thanks to all who have recommended this pre it's everything you said it was.A big thank you to H9 for sharing and recommending tubes for this pre it made things much easier for a tube newbie.I don't think I will be making any changes for a while,except rolling tubes.This is going to be a blast,even the wife likes the difference it doesn't get any better than that!
