Tonight a friend and I will be in Ann Arbor Mi at Paragon sound to listen to the Alexandria XLF's! This is a speaker I will NEVER be able to afford, but I have to hear these. Here's a link...

Very nice! I got their email on the get together they hosted and man would love to listen to those sometime. Paragon has a nice showroom, small but nice. Might have to try and get out there later this year and check it out again.

That's either an old picture of Dave or he has a lot of makeup on.

While I'm sure Wilson speakers probably sound fantastic, I just can't get into something that looks like a garbage receptacle in a High School gym. Just my opinion, nothing more.

Ann Arbor. I wasn't aware of a Paragon in Indy. There is however Ovation Audio in Indy which I really like and part owner of that store is Geoff Poor of BAT and he owns another store in IL that I highly enjoy.

    Sorry,

That was out of order lol. When I typed unbelievable, it was right after I left the room. Your post wasn't there. By the time I hit the post button, you already posted. Again, I'm sorry it looked like I was bashing your post.

I can honestly say, I've heard the best set of speakers I have EVER layed ears on. If you live within driving distance of a pair, you have to hear these. They imaged BEYOND SDA's, were very articulate and you want to talk revealing. You could hear the different mic techniques used in the recordings. Just amazing! But at $200K (not a typo) what would you expect right? But I've never heard a system sound THAT good! I'm sorry I'm gushing but man they got it right tonight!

What about the rest of the setup? I doubt it was Emo, stock power cords, and 12 gauge speaker wire. I was going to buy the Wilson Sophia, but went with the Aerial Acoustics 7T instead.

    How long did you listen?

I find Wilson speakers fatiguing...especially with piano music.

About an hour. I do too normally but it wasn't the case this time. My guess would be the Doshi's tamed the high end a bit or this new tweeter is smoother than the ones they use in the rest of the Alexandria's.

I forgot this model has their new silk dome...I wouldn't mind hearing it. The Focal inverted dome they use in other models is outdated to say the least.

I'm sure these speakers sound very good. But at the price, are they worth it? Their appearance does leave a lot to be desired. It does nothing for me.

Feel like I'm adding to a bit of a hijack, but i had the Aerial 6's & they were terrific. Now back to the Wilsons...

I heard the X2 a few years ago - that sound stayed with me as a reference.... I can midrange wise my Super Towers were right there when modified, IMO

Great speakers none the less - would love to hear that new silk tweeter.
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

That is a question you have to answer for you. For some the answer is absolutely! The answer for me is no because even if I won the lottery, I couldn't live with myself knowing I put that kind of coin into my system. Having said that I REALLY enjoyed that open house!
