Even if just to the practice squad. Brian Banks had his life and his dreams of being in the NFL ripped out from under him when he went to prison, falsely convicted of rape. Hats's off to Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seawawks for giving this guy a look. Hopefully some other teams will as well.

From the reports from the Seahawk OTA's, they say he doesn't look totally out of his league on the field. Which is really saying something when he's gone through what he has and being out of the game that long. His interviews have been great as well. Sounds very humble and hungry. I hope it works out and Seattle signs him.

You know, this is one of those things that baffles my mind. This kid was a highly recruited, very talented prospect who had a free education waiting for him and potentially a professional career. Then somebody comes along and falsely accuses the young man of something that he didn't do and he goes to jail with no recourse. His free education is gone and most likely so are his prospects at a professional career. No matter how well he performs in OTA's, he is likely stuck on a practice squad for at least this season. The money for those guys isn't much.
How can the person who accused him not be held accountable, especially considering she recanted her story and shows very little remorse for what she has put Banks through. At the very least, he should be able to go to a college of his choice and earn a degree and have her pay his entire way. I don't care how many jobs she would have to work - she should never sleep and scrape every nickel to show some retribution for what she has done. Its a damn shame that this kid had to go through this ordeal. Good luck to him.

Shawn... his accuser also won a 1.5 million dollar settlement from L.A. Unified School District, based on her lie. She will not have to pay back a single dime, nor will she face any legal reprocussions for her lies. That's just insane that somebody could utterly destroy the future of an innocent man and get away with it.
Gibson sued the Long Beach Unified School District, claiming the Poly campus was not a safe environment, and won a $1.5-million settlement.
