Ran across pair of SDA1C speakers.
Original owner with boxes and interconnect cable. Asking $400.
Always liked that model but do not want to overpay. Any opinions

Not a great deal, but not overpaying.

I bought and sold a pair of the Studio version for $300 which I thought was a great price for me when I bought them and for the buyer when I sold them.

Run, get them, take them home Gently !! Worth every penny of that $400 considering their sound and dwindling availability. Disclaimer: I have not heard that particular SDA model but,I am familiar with the feelings of others about them and their worth. The boxes are RARE !!

Yes an "RDO" replacement tweeter is readilly available from Polk .

Pretty good deal, especially if they are local, run don't walk. $400 for minty 1C's that don't have to be shipped or driven a long distance, that's a bargain.

Agreed with all the above. If you are reading this rather than getting in the car/truck to go pick them up, you are wasting valuable time.

You got LUCKY Nhhiep, or stole them then, if you have SDA-1c's. The average I have seen has been at least 400.00 and trending UP recently with several pairs that are likely not as nice as these selling for more than 500.00 recently on Ebay.

I agree with Larry, 400-500, depending on the condition, is the range! So I'd say you should move on it! Less than 400, a MUST buy!

SDA 1Cs are the sweet spot for many! Not too big, not too small. Just right!

Sometimes when your wanting something you just have to go for it. What's a $100 + or - for something you really want?

That is an outstanding deal! Granted, they don't have the RD0-198-1's, but they look to be in great shape and for $699.00 you will possibly never see them cheaper for the condition they are in! Granted they have a couple problems, but try to find them cheaper! One question I would ask is what components the McIntosh dealer used for the crossovers.

maybe that expensive if they come with new tweeters. they're $200 alone. Stock tweeters are great for rap/hip hop music though.

again... you got lucky. 200.00 for SDA-1c's is not the norm, as everybody else that has posted here demonstrates.

Wow, nnhiep, why all the misleading crap?

Back on 4/11 you posted asking about a fair price for SDA-1Cs and posted pics of the ones you were considering. They had at least one bad tweeter, trashed end caps, were missing side panels and the grilles were shot!!! Of those who posted, most said they'd pay about $50 - $75 for them with someone offering you more if you parted them out for him.

On 4/13, you threw in this gem: "looking at my Deftech Sub gives me an idea to make them look good and clean. Just cover the whole thing with sock? do you know where can I buy big black sound-transparent cloth/sock?"

The pair of 1Cs in question in this thread sold in one day after being listed for $400 on Craigslist. I don't think you're comparing apples to apples here - sounds more like apples to the pothole down the street!

yes, I remember that too. but come on, $50-75? how much would 8 woofers, 3 SL2000, and 2 passive rad cost just by themselves? not counting crossovers and the IC.

Just wanted to share my experience, that is all. I don't think I got a great deal, just fair. so, I think ones with better condition than mind probably worth 50% more than what I paid.

No, I just hope you're happy with your purchase. I'm sure you could have even made a couple of dollars just by parting them out but, I agreed with heiney9 that you shouldn't have even considered the big sock idea and just done them right, if you were gonna keep them and fix them up at all.
