I have a line on a pair of monitor 7's with SL2500 tweeters for $55 and both mids are frozen.
This is the first pair of Polk's I've ever seen with frozen drivers.
Now I know what they feel like. :frown:

After replacing mids, might end up above average price. hmm...

Subwoofers: Klipsch RW10, Triad ProSub Bronze.

    Thanks for comments.
That DIY zig looks promising but not sure if I can do it.
Is there a video of that by any chance?

I personally wouldn't give that much if both mids are frozen. I'd be looking at $25-30 max. As far as I'm concerned, all their "value" is in those mids.

    true that

I can confirm the MW-6503's are $48.00 each plus sale tax, and free shipping if you mention your membership here. I just purchased a set to repair the fried drivers on one of My Monitor 10B's I believe the Monitor 7 also uses the MW-6503 driver. Some people have expressed the worry the new MW-6503 will not sound the same as the original speakers. I can tell you if there is a difference in the sound it is going take a Monk from the Holy Order of The Golden Cable to tell the difference because my ears sure can't.

Keep in mine what you are calling a mid-range speaker is not, it is a wide frequency 6.5 inch driver . What looks like a woofer is actually a passive diver.

Here is the info on the Monitor 7. http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/products/recent/monitor7/

    It's called a MW-6503 for a reason... Mid-Woofer.

"passive driver" is a an oxymoron; it's a passive radiator.

The Monitor 7's use the MW6502, which is the same for all the Monitor speakers from Mon 4a to Mon 7's

Hmmm... I saw a pair of monitor 4's for $15 and mids are not frozen.
Same place also has a pair of S8's very cheap but cabinets are trashed and one mid frozen.
It may be worth to pick up all three pairs and gut 4's for 7's mids and part out S8's. hmmm...
Are the Monitor 4 and S8 tweeters and PR in any demand?

If I was you I would hold out for a pair of Monitor 10B's I purchased mine new in 1989, and I just finished refurbishing them, a pair of new 6.5 drivers, recapping the crossovers etc. They can make the house move on it's foundation when I crank them up, with something like Nightwish.

My bad I didn't realize what MW stood for

My brain is presently hung up on the word driver, of course it is a passive radiator, gee wiz nobody home tonight

I'd make a low offer on them ($25 - $35 or whatever you are comfortable with). Then either get new MW's from Polk or used here on the forums. You will have one of Polk's finest speaker systems.

I passed on a pair of 10B's after reading many threads about how 7's sound better/accurate than the 10B's.
That's debatable and I may buy one just to compare.

    Thanks for suggestion Skrol.
I already have a pair of 7C's and would like to add another pair if the price is right.
It's at a local audio store and price is non-negotiable unless they decide to lower after a week or so if they don't sell for current price.

You could point out to them that they're asking a lot of money for a pair of DOORSTOPS !

I have read about the accuracy thing about the 10B's and as near as I call tell it has something to do the horizontal positioning of the mid-woofers.

I told one of the guys and he was supposed to mention that to the guy who decides on price.

There was a pair of 10B's for $60 that were little bit challenged cosmetically. Thought of grabbing but then again passed on. I could have parted them out and made few bucks but I hate parting out speakers and wasting cabinets.
