I have a love hate relationship with ebay sellers.
Yesterday had an awesome seller send me the pair of tubes I won in an auction and he threw in an extra pair of the exact same tube (NOS, NIB) as a freebee. Didn't know it until I opened it. AWESOME!
Now my pet peeves.
1) Don't say you are willing to answer any questions if in fact you won't respond to a few basic questions well before the end of the auction. That caused you to lose a sale to me. BTW, I sent 2 e-mails.
2) Don't bother taking/posting a photo if A) it's so blurry no one can tell what it is is from 15 feet away so no one can tell what it is. There is a tube seller that essentially photographs the tube from across the room. Duh!
3) Stating the tubes have matched date codes, but then not listing the codes. Duh
4) Stating the test values, but then not stating what the max. and min. is on your tube tester. Duh  Ex. these test as 43/40 and 41/42, great what do those numbers mean????
OK, rant mode off

That's all I could think of off the top of my head and the most obvious. I get all people don't always know what's important to mention when selling a variety of things. But those 4 are pretty basic.

Although not tube related, I also had a pretty good experience with a seller on ebay the other day. I bought a unit from him that ended up having some minor problems that are fixable. So I e-mailed him and said, look, what can we do here?
He offered a full refund, including shipping fees? I asked him if instead of shipping the unit back, he'd be willing to give me a partial refund to cover possible "repair" costs. The piece is easily fixed (I believe). And he said, no problem, refunded the amount I asked and we're in business.
There are "indeed" some civil people on ebay, H9, sometimes!

H9,
I'm with you especially on items 3 and 4. I often have those same issues myself. I've been pretty lucky with my tube purchases on ebay so far. It really helps to do you homework and that's hard to do when folks don't give some critical info or respond in a timely matter. I feel your pain!

I hear ya H9!
I had this one guy try to buy some tubes off me. Emailed me twice within a couple hours and demanded an explanation as to WHY I take pictures so far back. He doesn't understand that I'm a cheap skate and use a $49 digital camera. As such I take them far away because everything looks bad close up. This guy even wanted like THE precise numbers for everything! What a guy! I'm sure glad I didn't sell him any tubes!

H9, You lucked out w/ the extra gift.Me the only freaking auction I won was for the niles speaker selector and the moron seller packed it in shredded paper w/o at least bagging the device first.I was pulling shards of paper out of every push button not to mention the dust factor. Needless to say I didn't ruin his day w/ a bad rating but I did message him about his bad packing practice .2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

I hear you Brock on the tubes and the frustration.
Also, I recently bought a triple disc Love set called "The Blue Thumb Recordings". He stated very plainly that the discs were in mint condition and played once. I get the set and the first disc looks horrible. there are scratches all over it. I e-mailed the seller about it and he said that if the first disc had scratches on it, the disc came that way. I called BS of course and he offered to refund me $20.00. I said I think $25.00 is fair. He agreed, but when he sent me the "refund", he actually sent me money and not as a gift so I was charged a transaction fee for the "refund" I refunded his "refund" and stated that in order to get the full $25.00 he had to actually refund a portion of the amount I sent to him or send me the money as gift. He then sent me the money in the exact same method stating this was the only option that paypal gave him. He also complained that I was saying he needs to refund the money as a gift or an actual refund in order for me to recieve the full refund, stating that he is inconvenienced that he has to "resend the money". I didn't even bother to respond agin as I could see he was a "lost cause". Needless to say, I will never buy from that seller again. Period.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

It's amazing how many people can't figure out how Paypal works. It's not just on Ebay either...
