Don't be ashamed brother. I owned a set of Bose 901 Series VI for 11 years, and sold them for what I paid for them. Expensive? yes; over-priced? most definitely; enjoyable? thoroughly, in the system I had at the time. Would I ever buy another pair? no.
I think speakers/headphones are the 1 item in an audio system that people need to choose based on sound; not reputation, not spec sheets, not cost, and definitely not based on reviews alone. Afterall, it's YOUR bucks your laying down, so get what sounds good to you.
I had a cheapy set of Koss headphones I used in Desert Storm with my CD walkman, and they sounded unbelieveable. Hell, I'd pay 50 bucks for a used set if I could remember what model they were.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
they didn't happen to be the Koss Pro/44a's did they? Man those things rock. They weigh a ton, though.Ludicrous gibs!

All I can remember is that they were light-weight and had blue foam ear pads. Man, when I would play Queensryche "Silent Lucidity" they would make the hair on he back of my neck stand up. Awesome bass for such compact headphones.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

From what i've heard the bose headphones sound pretty nice. I have a set of panasonic headphones that retailed for about 30 bucks that i got while working at CC for 10. The bass response from these is awesome. You feel them move... and they don't distort at those high volumes either. I hooked them up to my onkyo reciever and had the volume up to 85 before there was any distortion and that was on a high bass track too.Hemi: (HEM -e) adj.
