Looking to upgrade my old 90's Yamaha SW305's (have two) with newer technology. I want a higher performance compact design (8 inch) and keep the cost under $500 each because I plan to stay with twin subs and spending around $800-900 for the two. Been reading some reviews and have narrowed it down to a few. Looking at the HSU STF-1, Outlaw M8 or the Def Tech supercube II 8 inch. Heard good things about all of them. I will mainly be using them for 2-channel audio with occasional HT use in a 20'x20' room with 10' ceiling. Any suggestions or better subs out there to meet my criteria? Thanks!

For two channel i would go with the HSU or Outlaw. I heard the Outlaw's big brother at a buddies and it was quite musical. And I always liked the way HSU's sound in general. They are very well built.
I have not heard that particular DT but I am not a fan of there subs so much. A little woompy for me. youu know? woomp woomp woomp not bump bump bump. -
Checked out the specs on the SPL series. Pretty impressive. Are they very musical? Thanks for the heads up on the Velodyne line.go for a used velodyne like spl1200

I believe pearsall001 has two of them. -
Been doing some research and ran across Lava subs. Don't know anything about them. I guess they are a fairly new company. Have they earned a reputation yet?
