About to pull the trigger on a new sub

So I just sold my SVS pb12nsd today, i'm ready for something new. I'm not willing to go over $800, and I have a fairly large theater room. It will be nothing but 100% pure HT, and I want room pressurizing chest pounding bass and the SVS left me wanting more. My #1 pick right now is an Elemental Designs A5-350, I feel like that should do the trick.

I considered the Epik Empire but they want over $100 to ship it so that's over my budget. I like HSU but can't afford the vtf-15h and don't think the Vtf-3 will give me quite what i'm looking for. I like the CHT 18 but with an amp and shipping it's also over my budget. Is there anything I missed or any input on the Elemental Designs from an owner or someone who's heard one? I appreciate all the input as always, Thanks!

I like the idea of of Dual Legends but that puts me over $1,000 which I don't want to spend. I looked long and hard at Chase Home Theater but it's almost $1,000 with the recommended amp and shipping. I could run a 500w bash amp with it and stay in my price range but i'm not sure it would be enough power. If they weren't charging so much for shipping i'd like to do the Empire as well but I REALLY don't want to spend more than $800. I sold my SVS for $400 so i'm already doubling my budget, and i've bought quite a few toys here lately and really don't want to spend any more. Is the A5-350 not a good sub or something? I do really value everyones input on here and am talking everything into consideration. Thanks again!

I could also get a Supercube 6000 or a used Velodyne Optimum 12 for under $800, but I don't think they're going to be able to pressurize a large room with deep bass, unless someone else has experience with either one? I know generally everyone sticks with the ID companies when it comes to subwoofers to get more bang for the buck.

Edit: Also have considered the Dayton Titanic 15'' kit, don't know much about them though honestly.

Chest pounding bass in a large theater room? I doubt $800 will do the trick. DIY might be your best bet.

I would love a SVS 12 plus/2 and and kicking myself for not buying one when I had the chance. When I bought my Pb12nsd he had both for sale, the Nsd for $400 and he wanted $750 for the Plus 2. At the time it was over my budget but i'd gladly pick one up if I could find it. I'm never against buying used if I can find something.

Just wanted to say thanks again for the input. I ended up going with the Elemental Designs a5-350 after speaking with them, great customer service btw. After taking everything into consideration it just seemed like my best option. Can't wait to get it in, but on a side note I never really appreciated how much bass the Rti12's can put on by themselves:big grin: I'll post some pics and thoughts once I get it in and all setup.

You know i'd never measured it until you asked, not as big as I originally thought honestly. It's a 22'x18' square plus an 8'x10' recessed bar area off one side, 9ft ceilings fully enclosed. For some reason I was thinking it was bigger so hopefully this sub will do alright after all.

Here's an old pic, please ignore the bose they came with the house haha. The tv is on a stage in the recessed part, the sub will be on the far right.

Haha! Someone thought those Bose would do the trick! That picture is priceless.

Anyhow, can't wait to read your impressions of the ED.

That's a fairly large room, I'm thinking dual subs of some sort. I would go dual Empires even if you need to save for the second.

So 30x18x9 total? Or is there a wall separating the bar.

That's a pretty huge room lol.

Well the tv and stage are actually in the recessed or "bar" area in the pic. There are big double doors you walk through standing right where the picture was taken so it is all one big room. I usually keep the sub where that plant is in the right corner, or mid room where the mini fridge is on the far right. Thanks for all the compliments! They said it will be 1-2 weeks before it arrives, but I'll write up a review in case anyone is interested.

Has ED fixed their shipping woes of the past? Two weeks was more like 4-8 to some customers not too long ago.

That was my concern too, Ive read a few horror stories about it taking months. I called yesterday, and they said they've got everything ready except the driver and it should be in this week and two weeks at the absolute most. I'll give them a chance but if it's not out in two im not going to be happy and will cancel my order.

Here's another angle. The sub goes where the plant is at an angle, and I have a mini fridge in front of the outlet. I can also put it mid wall facing forward, going to see which one sounds the best when I get the new one in.
