I've checked out a few of these type tube "collections for sale" type things. They were mostly filled with stuff that is not used for audio and old "pulls" from service jobs done many years ago. That's not saying you won't find something useful, it's just been my experience. It is kind of fun looking thru the stuff though and who knows, you might find that "holy grail" you've been looking for.
If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

That's a lot of tubes. Kinda reminds me of when I was a kid and the TV repairman would come by to fix the set-remember when they had lots and lots of TUBES in there. And he'd open the back up and put in a new tube or two and boot her up and the inside would "glow" and "magically", the picture would come back!

He carried a huge tool case FULL of tubes, not unlike some of the boxes above?

Ah the good old days, when we still made TV sets, radios, Tubes, and a lot of other things!

I emailed the guy, so we'll see what comes of it. I'm with the concensus that probably most of the tubes aren't audio (ones we would be interested it). You COULD piece out the good tubes and make your money back, but I'm sure it would take a while and $450 would be a risky investment.

    It would be fun though...

Interesting design, but Samsung doesn't say what tubes they are. The description is also funny in that they use vacuum tubes to create a "truer sound". As much as I love tubes, in most designs, SS can give a technically truer signal reproduction; but that doesn't mean it sounds better.
