Craigslist Score: Monitor 7C's

Just scored a pair of Monitor 7C's with original boxes. Cosmetically they're probably a 7/10 right now, but I can easily make them an 8/10 since the only real problems can be cleaned up. Boxes are in good shape.

It will be fun to compare these to the 5B's that I currently own and the 10B's that I had around for a while.

Dude was offering them for $60, so I jumped... always wanted to hear the 7's. When I showed up, there was no way to listen to them, but it was apparent that one of the MW-6502's was locked up. I ended up getting the guy down to 40 bucks since at least the one driver was busted, and I had no way to check the tweeters or be sure about the other driver. Got them home, and sure enough everything works except that one driver.

So... anyone got a 6502? I've got a thread in the Wanted section too.

Thanks. Actually I just got in touch with Big Dawg today. He's next up, but he might pass to me. Shouldn't be long either way..

You're lucky, not that easy to come by those. I've been trying to snag a set for a couple of years now and my last deal fell through because of a snow storm (the guy was moving, it snowed--couldn't make the pick up. He settled into a new house and decided that he had "room" for the Polks and kept them). I have 5As and 10As, so 7s would pretty much complete the collection.

I like both my 5s and 10s but am curious about the 7s which people say are the Goldilocks of the group, "just right"?

    Enjoy!

    Congrats!
    5B's are excellent!
Few weeks ago, I got a pair of 7's (7C I think with SL2000 tweeters) and they are getting up there in my fav list. :)
7's have better bass and smoother sound.

Do yours have peerless tweeters? From what I read, 7's with peerless are more in demand.

    Klipsch RB81, KG3.5, B&W DM602.5, Polk.
Subwoofers: Klipsch RW10, Triad ProSub Bronze.

Nope, they are the 7C with SL-2000's. The peerless models were the 7A's, maybe some early B's. The A's are a little more rare, but I think the RD0-194 probably rivals the peerless tweet pretty well in terms of sound quality.

    I see.
Btw, I read that rdo-198 can be used instead with some different value capacitors and supposed to be better.
