Does anyone know which model and make PA uses for the 703 when they do shows?
Any other stands that you may know that I should look at?

If you know model and make/item number, please mention it.

Thanks,

I just spoke with PA CS.
    I had 2 questions

    1) Which brand or model does Pause typically or recommend.
    Answer - Sanus...Ultimate Series...etc

    2) How do you mount the speaker to the stand
    Answer -
    a. Use 2 sided sticky tape to bottom of speaker....
    b. Drill holes...etc........wth...Really?

Is this how people mount beautiful speakers to stands?! ....sitting here bewildered.

Anybody have any thoughts? Advice? recommendations?
This seems like a huge disconecct between beautiful cabinets, $$$Spends...and caveman mounting.

I have mine sitting on Skylan Stands. http://www.skylanstands.com/stands.htm

Model SKY-20D built to 28" for me. Noel Nolan is the owner. Lots of good feedback about him and his products.

    Frank,

thanks for the reply and link. Those look real nice!

How did you mount your speakers? Ae they just sitting on the plate or did you attach your speakers somehow?

I...no matter what will NOT acre holes in my speakers! ...seems ludicrous to me....maybe Ive been away from the audio world to long and am going nuts....just my 2 cents. I needed I will wind up buying some nice cherry wood and build a nice little "Seat" for them. Then I can screw that to the plate, and still keep the speakers in a safe comfy position and look good too.

I would love to hear from others that have med to large bookies..how do you mount/use your stands?

    Thanks again Frank!

I also have the Skylan stands at 28" tall. I use blu tak. The speakers are fairly secure and they don't budge unless you want them to. Its not bolting them down  But it works...

If you don't have any pets or little curious fingers I'd say just place them on top without securing them. That's why I like floorstanders because I refuse to put holes in my speakers.

As noted, Skylan or Sanus Ultimate. I have a pair of each and highly recommend either. However, I think the LSiM's and the Skylan combo would look better. Noel is a great guy to work with, he'll make the column height and plates pretty much to your specs and he's a wealth of knowledge.

I use non-skid rubber pads between the stand and speaker.

Whichever one you go with be sure to mass load them. I use 25 lbs. of lead shot per stand.

    Thanks for the info guys.
It makes sense now. The blue tak type of product will work.

    I have a German Shepherd and 2 rug rats 8 & 10. I don't see it being a problem though.

I must say though...how in the world does an industry such as Audio get details and striving for perfection so right in so many ways arrive at this major disconnect in regards to having a system that effectively mounts speakers to a stand without drilling holes....absolutely floored by this.

They found a way around it.... they are called Floorstanding speakers ....

Just kidding I agree with you on this. The best systems I have seen to do are: Polks VM series with stands, the Sunfire CRM-2's that have customs stands you can buy, and the Paradigm Studio line with stands.

The problem is that you can't have a universal method to attach a speaker to a stand as there are far too many variables.

because drilling is one method to securely mount speakers. the other is paying a high markup on 1st party OEM stands/mounts or 3rd party mounts/stands. pick your poison. and floorstanding is one of the other 'workarounds'.
