I have a new Rogue audio Ares pre and i have tried a few settings on the dip switches but i cannot seem to find where i am getting enough output.
I need to turn my pre up over 1/2 way to get decent volume where i go about a 1/4 on a cd.
I have a Dynavector cartridge.
here are the links on these-

    Hello,
Do you have the "high" or "low" output version?

The line level outputs on "modern" CD players tend to be pretty "hot" (high level; 2V or more). The gain of your phono preamp may just not get you there. I don't see the difference as a big deal, unless you simply cannot get enough volume out of the system.

A quick perusal of the manual suggests that you can always try the gain setting for a "medium output" MC cartridge (page 7).

The line level outputs on "modern" CD players tend to be pretty "hot" (high level; 2V or more as compared to the ancient standard of 1 volt into 600 ohms). The gain of your phono preamp may just not get you there (EDIT although they claim that the preamp can put out 8V RMS - although they don't seem to spec the gain nor the input signal required for 8V RMS out). I don't see the difference as a big deal, unless you simply cannot get enough volume out of the system.
