Anyone have any thoughts on the lge60pa6500 LG 60" Plasma TV? We are adding a TV to the bedroom and my idea was to move our 4 year old 52" Samsung LCD TV to the bedroom... Which is admittedly on the large size for the bedroom so I am running into WAF problems with that...

We went to look at TVs today and we can get that LG for $1100 which would tip the WAF balance in favor of it... Just wondering of its a decent TV at all or if I should just consider getting a smaller 42-46" for the bedroom?

I like the Samsung that we have, just figured if I am going to spend the money on a tv I should look into upgrading the tv room and filtering the older stuff down.

I have a LG plasma, never had a problem with it. But if i was buying now i would get the Panasonic ST50. Amazon's got the 50'' for under $1200.

Unless you can get the LG for a complete steal, I would go with the Panasonic first...

Well as stated there is a critical tipping balance where WAF intervenes and 60" TV becomes 42" TV for bedroom only. My guess is that this comes in at around $1399.... We don't need 3d because it gives us both headaches anyway..

It's hard to judge from online reviews if its any good or not because people always say "I love it its way better than my 1975 tv"... Which isn't saying much.

Any thoughts on plasma vs led vs led? I am concerned about it being plasma... I have never owned one before

Here is a thread about it from avsforum:

I picked up the 50PA5500 a few days ago for $649. It replaced a Panny 42" plasma that I had in the living room. Overall, I am happy with the tv and could not justify spending an extra 150 to get the 50" Panny. I say go for the Lg, unless you are super picky about black levels and such. The Panny may have a slight edge with respect to that.

Idk... I'm on the fence with this.... Went to best buy for some viewing and they had a sharp and a Samsung 60" LED TV setup right next to it... It really made the color quality look bad in comparison.. All the plasma tvs I looked at were kind of dull looking in comparison, so its not just an LG thing. I did make sure they were not in economy mode.

I also noticed that the plasma tvs had a very glossy screen that is like a mirror at reflecting things where the led tvs had more of an anti-reflective screen which might be better since we have a window in the room.

The Sharp tv seemed to be to have the best color and vibrance of all of them... It also had built in WiFi which is a bonus, but probably won't be used unless there is a way to send the laptop screen to it over WiFi ... Downside was that it is $1500 vs $1100 which may be past the tipping point

That's funny that you mention the Sharp Led because I was considering the 52" that BB had for 1100 last week. But again, and this is just me, I couldn't justify the price compared to that of a plasma. Good luck and let us know what you get.
