Not too mention YOUTUBE sound is heavily compressed. I won't even give it a listen until you use an audiophile type recording (think something popular and well recorded and real intruments, etc.) and it's in FLAC or WAV format, none of this compressed/lossy bullsh#t. I don't listen to lossy files for evaluation, it's sort of a joke.

You need to do this new method you tried on something listenable. Sorry had to say it. And also something that isn't a processed electronica sound. You are just cutting out certain things inherent to the music itself. Lets hear this on a rock tune or something with actual instruments. Honestly I couldn't tell a difference because I do not know the material. And listening to a Youtube version showed very little change.

Also: for some reason the SDA effected sound gave my ears a high pitched ring that I did not hear on the original youtube version. It was quite uncomfortable. I literally had a whining sound in my left ear that hurt. I moved to four different spots of the recording to see if it was just a section but it is throughout the recording.

Sorry for any uncomfortable sounds... I have only listened to this on my main system. I did not experience this, I will listen to in on some other systems.

as far as the recording... I am sorry guys... my DAW doesn't take FLAC... and i figured converting FLAC to WAV would be just one more step. So i used an available mp3 I have.

I will post some real recordings of real instruments... I am thinking that I will even put a bypass on the effect and turn it on and off through out the track to emphasize the difference to anyone who isn't picking it up. And i will use WAV.

I just think you will get more valuable feedback if you used a lossless format and a track or two that's well recorded and or a little more well known. It would be easier to make comparisons if more people are familiar with the track.

Given that I've never heard SDA's, I listened to your recording and I'm not sure what I'm listening for. I heard traits that I've heard used in other mixes or similar music genres as far as a wider sound stage. I guess it didn't really wow me. Perhaps it's the speakers I'm using?

Any old stereo speaker rig should work...

I think the song was just a bad choice on my behalf.

Good point, What tracks would you want to hear? Give me a couple tracks that you really enjoy on your sda's.

I like Tool, but hardly audiophile material, IMO.

How about something from Paul Simon or early Norah Jones or Cowboy Junkies, Donald Fagen. Something in that vein.

I am sure i have some good quality metal I could try. In fact now that i think about it... I haven't really heard any metal with the dimensional effect... i never did favor my sda1c's for metal.

Donald Fagen is my pick of the above, consider it done. I think I might do some blue cafe and even some muddy waters...

Downloading the transcoder as we speak. hopefully I can spend some time on this later this evening and get some tracks posted.

Due to the negativity about the first track i posted I decided to take it down. I will post again when I get some lossless tracks up.

    Cheers

Lots of good ones on Toni Braxton's Secrets CD. My favorite tracks are "Un-break my heart" and "Talking in his sleep". Deep base, wide dynamic range and well recorded. Lots of good stuff to keep your ears happy. You will feel like the backup singers are in the room with you.

A lot of Evanesence has a very good effect.

Talk about recordings with no dynamic range or seperation unless it's just Amy's voice and the piano.

Better than most rock music out there right now.

FYI, youtube's maximum audio bitrate is only 152kbs on 720p and 1080p.
