FIOS TV vs. DirecTV

FIOS has just recently become available in my 'hood. Having been with DTV for the past 12 years with zero complaints and superb HD quality, I am somewhat reluctant to switch over to FIOS TV. However, I've been on DSL all these times, and it is reliable, albeit at a maximum of 1.67MBPS download speed vs. potentially 9 times with FIOS (cheapest data plan of about 15MBPS).

Also, with DTV and 3 DVRs, my monthly is about $111 including all HBOs, plus DSL of $40/month.

Is FIOS TV reliable and comparable (i.e. include DVR and time shifting features)?

Anyone has switch from DTV to FIOS TV?

TIA
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I have DTV and FIOS for internet, love both.

Only thing stopping me from going to FIOS TV is the DVR. Not HDD expansion and IMO the gui sucks.

DTV you can through on an esata or just change out internal drive for more storage.

A friend of mine works at Motorola in the DVR division and says the FIOS DVR will be getting some upgrades but I am waiting until I see it to make the switch.

My 1TB drive allows me to have over 100 hours of HD storage and is usually 60-70% full.

Thanks Tracy. So, sounds like FIOS DVR is not up to par with DTV DVR yet? I am trying to simplify things, but not at the expense of not having enough flexibility to storage option. You are right, adding a 2TB eSATA HDD on a HR21 is a simple plug and play.

Does FIOS has a timeline with the new and improved DVR?
