The lyrics......
Any lyrics really move ya?
To tears, to goose bumps?
To make you think of other people?
Other times?
The words alone, and not the music?
For me there are a couple, but the main one, everytime, only because it was popular at the time, and I had to listen to it: Evanescence - Hello (I think of my mother every single time I hear that song)!
I actually had Surgeons come to me, in the hospital, and tell me she would not make it.
And she didn't.
And I heard that song on the way home, in the car.
Everytime..........that song just guts me.
I hate it on one hand, but think it is beautiful on the other.
Any songs really have meaning for you?
Lyrics that make you think, about other people, other times, other places?
To tears, to goose bumps?
To make you think of other people?
Other times?
The words alone, and not the music?

The Star-Spangled Banner - sung by just about anybody, except Roseanne Barr - stirs up all kinds of things in me: Pride, Gratitude toward our military and veterans, etc., etc.

Whitney Houston did one hell of a job.
And I would have to agree, a moving song.

The lyrics in these songs just floor me with their beauty, sweetness, and a bit of sadness.Norh ACA-2B tube pre, Sumo Andromeda SS amp. Magneplanar MMG speakers, M&K MX1250 Subwoofer, Pro-Ject RM1.3 Genie TT with Sumiko Pearl MM cart., Keces DAC, Cambridge Audio Azur 640c CD player -
A very moving tribute to a friend of his who died in a fire.
-
Brad Paisley "Whiskey lullabye" - a very haunting song and parts of it remind me of how I felt a time or two after a relationship ended...."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." My mom is quite ill and has been less fortunate then the majority of us for being on the lucky side of the radar. With saying that, I've strived for the last 10 years to be positive and encourage her as she believes in no hope. I wish she wasn't such a stubborn woman but when are they not?
Miley Cyrus - The Climb
A song dedicated to my mother to keep her head high. I can't listen to it... Emotions come out in that song because of the **** history between us and how it's gotten to it's current state. It's one of mom's favorite songs and she uses it now to keep herself going.
While there are many great songs with lyrical meanings that are touching, the one above tops them all for me. -
Mmmm.... Whisky...
How about "Where Did You Sleep Last Night", Nirvana, Unplugged. That song gives me chills every time, one of my favorites to blast after a few of the aforementioned whisky drinks... -
Taps does it every time for me.
Brooks and Dunn- Husbands and wives.
Brooks and Dunn-Its getting- better all the time. -
Lee Roy Parnell Daddies and DaughtersIf you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

One that has always hit me is Colin Raye's "If you get there before I do". He is a Great Writer and Singer.
Another would be Garth Brooks "Belleau Wood" About the Christmas Truce during WWI. He is a great story teller in song.
The only song I can't listen to anymore i s"Through the Years" By Kenny Rogers. It was the song i danced with my mom too at my wedding. She passed away two weeks later from cancer in June of 2000. I am teary just thinking about it. -

My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

So many great songs, and storys, drenis, my relationship with my mom was much the same.
She had a very hard impoverished and abused life, just as she and my dads situation was beginning to look better, his heart attack in mid 40s, disability and young death, although i understood why she was the way she was, it never got easier knowing no matter what anyone did, there was desperation.
David Brombergs "Childs Song" i just cannot sit through, I keep seeing our old house on blount st. in east point ga., leaving for the army in 1976 two months out of high school, having had the typical battles with my dad that young men have, but thinking all would be well for a long time, dad well employed at Owens Illinois glass plant returned in 79 to a home shattered by events no one could see coming or avoid.humpty dumpty was pushed -

What You Give by Tesla damn good song, I always thought it was a about the love you receive from your significant other. I heard a interview and Jeff Keith said he wrote that tune after the death of his dog, none the less I still like it and think about a couple of our dogs that have passed on when I hear it.Home Theater

Brings me right back to my cousins' funeral. There are very few things that bring me to tears, going back to putting an 18 month old in the ground does it everytime. -

U2, MLK, I sang that one to my mother as she lay dying a couple of months ago.
I could probably break the message board posting all of the beautiful, meaningful lyrics that we have been graced with over the years but these are the ones that just jumped out at me."I drank what?" Socrates  -
How about "Song to the Siren" originally done by Tim Buckly, but also Robert Plant and This Mortal Coil as well as many others. You decide which you prefer. I like them all..........The melody and lyrics are phenominal...........
