Experiencing Sonic Withdrawl

Now two weeks into recovery after my hernia surgery, my wife has asked that I put away my big Magnepan MG 20's and put the little MMG's back in their place. Though they are a capable little speaker, I cannot express how much I miss the sound from the big Maggies already. The only fair comparison I can make to what I am experiencing would be like going from a set of hot-rodded SDA-SRS 1.2tl's to a set of Monitor 50's.
I find myself trying to relax and listen to the music as I have done for the past several months, and it is actually painful. I am straining to hear details that came effortlessly before, and in many cases, they are just gone all together. There is no getting lost in the soundfield and letting the aches and pains or worries of the day slip away with these...

Hope you have a speedy recovery.
Is there a reason why your wife wants you to use the MMG instead?
I think you'll get back into it after a couple of days. You probably just have to get used to it again. The MMG are still very capable of doing a convincing soundscape. -

Did you really just ask why a wife wants him to use the SMALLER speakers?
Wishing you a speedy recovery dude! -
Is getting rid of the wife an option?

lol. Just got it now. It just never crossed my mind at the time. I've always found Maggies big or small to blend in very well to their surroundings.

Maybe it's just that particular room she has a problem with. Wives in general don't like big speakers. Thats what drove Bose's sales for so long. Try and compromise, a different room maybe ? Or...or...I got it.....go speaker shopping. Look for a bookie on stands with a couple subs. A real nice bookie that is.HT SYSTEM-

Sorry that you are experiencing crappy audio John. I hope you feel better (otherwise) soon though. Once you heal up perhaps you can re-stake your territorial claim for the big Maggies rightful places. Afterall, if they were there once, they can be again..........:cheesygrin:
Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

hehehe... sorry to hear it John, I know you were loving the big Maggies. Hopefully this is the kick in the arse to get totally better so you can get up to Bob to get those TUBES finished and making sweet sweet music.
Fella's its totally a space thing. They are in a pretty small apartment right now and those Maggies are MASSIVE compared to the MMG's. My bet is that they just about take up the whole living room when properly setup and even if tucked away in a corner look like massive room partitions lol....."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." I thought John moved to a new house.....an apartment eh, then your out of luck bro. Store the Maggies, go speaker shopping for some bookies, some real nice bookies that will make a great 2nd system when you move. A happy wife means a happy life.:cheesygrin:HT SYSTEM-
