Anyone have any experience driving LSi9's with a Kenwood Basic M1D amp? I am considering the LSi9's but not sure if I would need to upgrade my amp. The amp's specs are 125w into 8ohms. Don't know the specs for a 4 ohm load. The amp is a workhorse but I want to make sure it's got the heart for the LSi9's. Thanks.

It's an OK amp, certainly nothing to write home about. Probably better than an AVR, but I wouldn't pay more than $100 for one. Not sure it does real well with low impedance's. I owned one for awhile back when I sold Kenwood home audio and we got accommodation pricing. I would have never paid close to retail for one.

Have you considered picking up a pair of vintage monitor 5s, 7s, or 10s? I bet you would like them with your kenwood.

You should be fine with that amp. I was running my A9s with a fairly small and cheap amp (Denon 80 w). THe sound was pretty decent for the $$$. Later I got an old NAD 218 and the sound improved noticeable at mid/high volumes. In most songs there was not much of an improvement at low or low/mid volumes there (I may not have super listening skills). However there were some songs that sounded more clear at any vol level (surprisingly not the most "musically demanding songs" or songs full of drums as I would have guessed without trying...just some songs, some voices, some sounds).
I know my comments are very subjective but I went through the same dilemma and I could never find an oppinion matching what I heard after upgrading the amp. Most likelly we all process sound differently in our brains.
    Cheers

No, but a call to Polk's toll free customer service number should give you that info very quickly.
