Question about SDA speaker prices

Hello,

I have the chance to buy a very nice pair of Polk SDA-1s from the original owner, not modified, and was wondering what the current value would be. They are asking $400.

I also found a pair of SDA-3.1s for $400, but they say they need new tweeters. Any idea the value of these?

Any help you could give me would be much appreciated....

    The 3.1TL's are the ones to get given that they are in good shape (other than the tweeters). What version of 1's are they? If they are 1C's, they are worth closer to the value of the 3.1TL's, but the 3.1TL's are still a better speaker, IMO. Partly because they can use the RD0-198 tweeter (which are the ones you will need to buy to replace the tweeters) instead of the RD0-194. The RD0-198 tweeter is a better tweeter, IMO and many others' on the forum. They sound smoother and more refined. If the SDA-1's are 1A's or 1B's, it's not even a contest. Get the 3.1TL's. $400.00 is a pretty good price for them if they are in good shape. You could even try to talk him/her down (a little) since they need new tweeters. The tweeters will cost you $48.00 a piece direct from Polk Audio and be sure to tell them you are a forum member to get that price and free shipping. Hope this helps you out.

    Thanks for the detailed info. I still have my original pair of SDA-1As (the pair for sale have the tweeters stacked, so not sure if those are 1B or 1C), but was thinking I could buy the other pair and sell one and hopefully make a few dollars. I guess that isn't going to work.
    If the 3.1TLs are that much better, than it sounds like a good idea to buy those and then sell my 1As, which are in excellent condition.

    I've been trying since 5-26 to get a response from the sellers and finally heard back from them today that they are sold. Sorry.
    There is still the pair of SDA-1 for sale...they are asking $400.00.
