Office system

I found an early 60's Sears Silvertone console stereo in the trash last week, so I tossed it into my truck and hauled it home. I salvaged a small tube amplifier from the console. The amp has four 6bq5 output tubes, two 12ax7 drivers, and solid state rectification. I replaced all of the electrolytic caps, the rectifier diodes, and installed some Dayton RCA jacks and binding posts. Total investment so far is about $15. The amplifier sounds realy good with my mp3 as an input, so I decided to use it in an office rig. I need to source some efficient bookshelf speakers, and I was wondering if Polk monitor 5 juniors would be a good candidate? I will probably need some headphones as well for those occasions when descretion is required. Any help here would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I use Monitor 5B's with a variety of tube integrated's in my office, ranging from 9wpc - 30wpc. If you decide to go with the 5 Jr's., look for the "plus" model, other wise 5B's are simply superb.

    H9,
Thanks, based on the many posts you have made over the years pertaining to tube related equipment, I'm sure you have been there and done that in many various forms. I appreciate your input, and I hope to benefit more from your posted experiences.

As I mentioned in another post, I love to tinker. My mom says that trash picking is nothing new for me, and that she remembers me building gizmos from junkyard finds as a young boy. I guess she's right! I'm excited to listen to this fledgling tube system, but I think I enjoy the rebuild process just as much if not more! There is something deeply gratifying about taking a pile of junk and making it come back to life.

    Thanks again,
    Dan
