Oh, and its way better than that PASS stuff!

    RT1

I heard Nelson was closing up shop and working on his Russian to go work for Viktor and Vladimir. The Pass Labs thing isn't working out.........:cheesygrin:

LOL....Teds description of Vladimir's accent is spot on. I called him up once to ask him some questions, you just can't help but like the guy. I'd love to hang with him on a barstool and hear him when he's drunk.

All in all, that Bat 500 is a keeper, hence the reason you don't see them up for sale too often. For SS amplification, it doesn't get much better than that. Of course there are still those who claim you won't hear a big difference between SS amps, nice to see yet another member can prove them wrong. Enjoy man, and I'll call first dibbs should you decide to move up to the 600.

In my experience, the differences can range fro subtle to dramatic. I've used (4) different solid state power amps in the main rig over the last year. They all sounded different.

Congrats on your new amp! Another + for BAT service. Victor is more prim and proper to speak with while Vlad is more of a 'hey, what's happenin' kind of guy.

There isn't a single piece of gear, cable, tube or capacitor that I haven't heard some sort of difference between. Like you said, some are subtle and some are dramatic.

I'll keep you in mind. I have a whole Parasound setup (HCA-2200ii, P/LD-2000, DAC-2000 Ultra, and CDP-1000), that's on the chopping block right now. It's powering a secondary 2-channel rig, and it sounds excellent, but I hardly ever use it, so I'm thinking it might be overkill. I might just use cheaper components in there, and then off the Parasound stuff to fund tweaks for my main rig. The only thing holding me back at this point is that I like having all the good Paraound stuff as a backup for the components in the main rig. If anything blows up or has to go to the shop, I've got a quality piece to stick in its place. hmmm...

Thats a really nice back up! I have a P/LD 1100, music fidelity phono, and two HCA-800ii's that I want to replace with your 2200ii. I really like these parasound products

so Ben any more thoughts on how you find the sound to be on the unit?

Ever think about getting another and running them as monos?

If you were closer I would offer to bring by my BAT pre so you could hear the combo together. BAT with maggies sounds really good IMO. I heard the VK600 monos on the 3.7s and loved it.

I'd love to add a large BAT SS amp to my system some day. For now, I'll have to settle for having my VK-30 preamp mated with my Halo A21. I haven't dealt with Vlad, but Victor was very helpful when I first bought the preamp. He helped me upgrade the preamp to be remote (Harmony) compatible without having to fork out the entire upgrade price or having to ship it back to him. He also made some great tube recommendations and gave me full schematics for the preamp.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

Man, this thing keeps impressing me. If I had to pick one word, it would be: "easy". The music just flows out effortlessly; it handles everything I throw at it easily, it's easy to listen to, and it's easy on the eyes. Just plain easy... that is, except to move!

My favorite attribute is its open, airy top-end. It's got the most articulate highs of any amp I've tried, but it's also one of the least trebely amps I've tried. Great combo for my ears. It's kind of like how LSi's are very detailed, yet laid back. It's extremely clear, but without being bright at all. The notes are so well separated from each other, they don't have to be over-emphasized to be heard comprehensively.

Warm mid-range and powerful, controlled bass are other big pluses.

The airy top-end is what I'm digging the most. It really reminds me of when I first added a tubed preamp to my rig... but this thing isn't tubed. It's making me very curious about how a good tubed power amp would sound...

I have no desire to get another to run them mono at this point. As is, it drives my speakers quite easily.

Probably fantastic , unless you are trying to fill a very large listening space.
