Subwoofer produces sound only on Bluray and some TV movies

Just installed a polk speaker system with a Pioneer VSX 53 receiver, Samsung Smart TV and OPPO BD93 BluRay player. Noticed subwoofer does not work when playing CD's or regular TV. Works great with BluRay (haven't tried DVD) and when watching HD movies on TV (such as Green Hornet).
Clearly I must have made an incorrect hook up (Actually it was professionally installed and I already advised them via voice mail). Any thoughts? I have one wire going into sub (it's a PRO440 wireless ready, however, it's hard wired)

    Hello petervan,
In all likelihood the sub is connected correctly. The Pioneer's setup is responsible for sending low frequency information via the sub-out connection. There should be a menu choice, in the Pioneer, that might need changing to send bass whenever non-multichannel sources are selected.
    Regards, Ken

Thank you Ken. Just as I hoped.

Most likely the AVR is configured so that all of your speakers are set to "large," thus the only sound being sent to the subwoofer is the LFE channel. No LFE channel, no sound from the sub. Need to set your speakers to "small" and set a crossover point for them in order to send more sound to the sub.

That was exactly the problem! Installer returned (great service from Sam Sound!!) and set the speaker from Large to Small. Even explained why!

    Thanks again everyone!!
