Acoustic Panel Location for PowerPort Speakers
Finally made the investment of some acoustic panels for the theater area. Planning on putting a panel behind each tower and center channel (along with several other strategic locations in the room) as recommended. However, considering that the Rti12's and CSiA6 have the Polk Powerport features on the back, does it really make sense to locate panels behind the speaker vs. somewhere off to both sides? Is the positioning of panels behind a speaker only good when the speaker is direct ported through the back? Thanks

You will still benefit from the acoustic panels in either case.
The biggest improvement I made besides better hardware was the acoustic panels behind the speakers and at the first reflection points on the walls to the side of the speakers. There is a neat video on youtube by Martin Logan explaining the easiest way to find the first reflection point.
