Center positions options and recommended LSi F/X mounting positions

Need some suggestions for locations of speakers. First for my center channel. I plan to wallmount the TV thanks to the free mount from leroyjr1 and am trying to figure out if I should put the center above or below the TV. It can be wallmounted so that isnt really an issue if its above, and if below I will probably just put it on the entertainment center.
My thoughts are to go with Option 1 as it keeps the center a bit out from the wall and closer to the level of the front left and right speaker. Also less of a PITA since I can just lay it on top rather than mounting it.
Secondly for my bipole dipole LSi F/X speakers, thanks to pearsall001. Currently I am thinking Option 1 is better since it would line them up directly with the listening position (and also opens up using Option 2 as well for 7.1 in the future). But Option 2 could also be viable in a 5.1 setup. Both speakers will be mounted to the wall directly and not on stands, hence trying to get it figured out before they show up at my door
Thoughts and suggestions on either one appreciated.

Option #1 for both center & LSi/FX. Surrounds like the LSi/FX perform best on side walls for maximun dispersion. If you go 7.1 with rear surrounds you want straight firing speakers.

Center speaker - Option 1 (on the Entertainment Center) - Easier (Much!). Tweeters closer to ear-level in normal listening position (on couch), even though with the VIFA this is less of an issue than with other tweeters and, as you'd mentioned, even level across the front with your front LSi's. Above the TV, it would always look a little out of place (IMHO), like a small awning hanging there. Also, LSiCs are kind of heavy and it takes a pretty strong support to hold them, sometimes getting them mounted exactly level can be a PITA and can leave marks on your wall as well as on your speaker. Lastly, to get a really "clean" look to your mounting, you'd have to have the center's wires in the wall and doing so can also be another serious PITA. Later, if you ever were to change the use/arrangement of the room, or were to sell the house, you'd also have to repair and repaint the wall.
LSi F/X's - Option 1 (Side Walls). There they'd be more out of the way when mounted at proper surrounds' height. More importantly, you'd be less likely to have funky sound wave issues with them mounted there - taking into account the angled design of the LSi F/X fronts - because you wouldn't have the effects of the open doorway to your kitchen on one side or the open/closed/screened/draped sliding glass door on the other. The side wall mounts would give you more consistent sound wave deflections. Also, later, if you were to add two surround back speakers, you might get better results with mounting forward-projecting speakers (eg. LSi7's). My guess is though that you'll find that the 5.1 system will be plenty enough to "fill" your room.
Anyhoo....that's my $0.02. -
Yup, overall thats what I was thinking which is why I labeled them both option 1 as I thought they were probably more ideal. Mounting the LSiC on the wall wouldnt be an issue as I would use the cable hider stuff on the outside of the wall and paint it the same color. I already have to do this for the HDMI & Ethernet cable for the TV so I would just use a wider piece."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." I'd go with option 3...

another vote for option 1 as well. Also it'd be nice if you could put the tv on the wall or on the stand's bracket mount if it comes with one.Polk Rt800i -Fronts
Polk cs400i -Center
Polk fx500i -side surrounds
Polk rc60i -rear surrounds

Polk psw111 -
i would try and run two centers, one above and one below. The surrounds I would use option one on those. The Gear... LOL, thats the whole reason I was posting to ask about advice on the center... its getting wallmounted... and its actually on the wall as we speak right now..nooshinjohn wrote: »i would try and run two centers, one above and one below. The surrounds I would use option one on those.
After putting it on the wall I dont think a second center is even an option if I wanted it to be. It would be waaayyy to high. I will post some better pics later this weekend when I get the LSi F/X's mounted and get the rest of the gear dialed in and cables hidden."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Thanks. Wait till its all done ..... although the LSi 15's are no LSiM 707's ."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

Lol... Having trouble with my surround placement.
I am sure I will once the speakers show up tomorrow and I try to actually mount them in real life rather than in my head lol.....
I found a stud in the small wall that should work fine, but on the larger wall I am hoping the stud isnt too far in front of the door so it mounts somewhat in line with the other side....."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." You don't need a stud to hang them.

The LSi F/X's? I thought they need a stud given their weight.........."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

I agree Leroy, even a wimpy kid like the shadow should be able to handle it. PFB has agreed to swing the hammer if you will hold the nail still Dan.:loneranger::cheesygrin:The Gear... Nope, you can use drywall anchors. Bought mine from home depot for about $3. I use the metal threaded drywall anchors. -

Threaded Drywall Anchor
Available in a range of styles and sizes to accommodate loads from 30 to 90 lbs.
No pre-drilling necessary.
Install quickly and easily with a #2 Phillips or cordless screwdriver.
Most anchors of this style are removable and reusable.
Available in metal and plastic. -

@John... I might be wimpy in real life but my internet personal is BALLER!!!!!
I am simply worried about ruining the brand new renovated apartment drywall by pulling it off the wall with a super heavy speaker lol...
@Leroy... Thanks for those. I will take a look at those for sure! I really appreciate it.....
I also like the expansion anchors....."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
Read post #20 with link. I have a picture in my livingroom about 40 pounds using the metal threaded anchor.

Yeah I edited my post after seeing yours with the link. I will get those then so I can mount the speakers where I want to....."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Tried the expansion anchors but like the threaded anchor the best. Very easy to install an leaves about a 1/4 inch hole which is very easy to fill.
-
Some crappy iPhone pics just because. Keep in mind no cable management yet and the entertainment center will be moved closer to the wall.

Did you try the wall mount in the fixed position? It's more stable and you really don't need the tilt with it being low.
Forgot to send the spades for your cables with the mount. Still need them?
Looking good! -

I assume for the fixed position I remove the bar in the middle and use the slot in the top part of the mount over the back of the bracket?
And yeah I do need the spades if you still are cool with giving them up"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
Yep, use the slot. It'll put it about 2 inches closer to the wall. How many spades do you need?

I got 4 coming from Drenis so I just need 2 for the center"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
Option 1
-
Had a min at work on lunch, so drew myself a wiring diagram. for what I am moving around.
I plan to keep all the Signal (HDMI, S-Video, RCA, Ethernet), Power, and Pre-out wiring totally seperate so they dont touch each other. Here is what I came up with.
Top part of this image is of the Signal cables (i.e. HDMI, S-video, etc). I just realized I missed ethernet, but they will all run from the switch directly to the Xbox, Uverse, blu-ray player and TV. Not sure how that routing will go until I get there though....
Bottom part is the power cord routing.
This is of the pre-out wiring. I plan to run them in a cable breezeway attached to the back of the TV mount so they never get a chance to get signal from anything else.
