Hello Guys,
I am still struggling with the purchase of a good quality AVR. My speaker set up is:

Polk Audio RTi A9 (Front L and R)
Polk Audio CSi A6 (Central)
Polk Audio FXi A6 (Surround L and R).

I have considered pioneer elite sc-55 due to class D amp. However, it is being a bit too expensive for me. I came across Cambridge Audio 650R. The specs are:

Power Output: 7 x 100 watts rms per channel, 8 ohms (all 7 channels driven); 2 x 120 watts rms per channel, 8 ohms (two channels driven)
THD: <0.006% @1kHz
Crosstalk: <-60dB @ 1kHz
Frequency Response: 10Hz -20kHz - 1dB
Signal to Noise Ratio: >90dB 'A' weighted
Audio input impedance/sensitivity 47kOhms/175mV or greater
Digital input impedance: 75ohms (coaxial/SPDIF)
Tone Controls: Bass +/-10dB @ 100Hz; Treble +/-10dB @ 10Hz
Tuner: FM mode / RDS 87.5-108MHz, 75 ohm coaxial aerial; AM mode 522-1629Hz, 300 ohm loop aerial General Q
uiescent power consumption: <70w
Max. Power Consumption: 1400w

Can someone please comment on this one? Or pioneer elite is the best option. Much appreciated. Thank you.

Just my opinion, i would get the Pioneer. Just out of curiosity. Where did you see the Cambridge for a lower price than the Pioneer. Amazon had Pioneer sc-55 $1020, Cambridge 650r $1499.

I saw Cambridge on audioadvisor.com. I agree that pio is cheaper on Amazon, but then that purchase will not be covered under warrenty since Amazon is not an authorized dealer of Elite category of Pio products.

At the same time, I did some more reading regarding Cambridge on hometheater.com and I think I am going to scrape the idea of Cambridge. It does not do good job at room correction and speaker calibration. I mean it is not as automatic as other avrs with Audyssey or other calibration/correction system. With Cambridge I will have to identify the speaker size and number of speaker. Now in terms of video processing, it doesn't do upconversion. So all these, I think I am going to drop the idea and will stick with Pio then.

Thank you for your help and support though! One more question: Parasound 2250 worth buying? or just stay with pio only and no need for external amp. I keep hearing that RTi speakers are power hungry. Thanks again for your help and support.

Parasound definately worth buying with those A9's. I run a Parasound HCA1500a with my A7's. Big differance. Nice speaker setup by the way. Welcome to CP.
