Picked up a pair of Mirage M1(black,biwire) speakers yesterday
almost new condition with all drivers working. Anybody familiar with these? I think they sound great!

    Nice score! Legendary. Are they M-1si's, or original M-1's?

    I've owned the M-7si's and M-5si's, and I thought they were sweet!

    shamless plug: if you're looking for a matching center, I've got the best Mirage center ever made on ebay right now:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mirage-OM-C2-Center-Channel-Speaker-OMC2-Rare-NO-RESERVE-/170840026605?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item27c6dbeded#ht_922wt_1020

    It's bipolar like your M1's, and it uses a passive radiator for very real, boxless sounding bass.

    Enjoy.

    Wow! That is a cool center. These are not si version. Biwire original M1.
    Bought from original owner. Very nice condition. Paid $400. That was a pretty good price?

    Great price! Congrats.

    Have you taken down the socks to inspect the drivers? Some of the drivers in this series used rubber surrounds, and some used foam. If yours use foam you may want to do a quick check on the condition. Also, be careful not to underpower them. They require real power, and if you fry a tweeter or blow a driver, you'll never be able to get one from Mirage, so you'll be stuck looking on ebay, and they do not come up often.

    Have not dropped socks. Probably a little scared to try. All drivers working as of now. Biamping them with forte model 4(pure class a 50 watts) on top and amp inside old yamaha receiver at 110 watts on bottom.

    Wow! These M1 Mirages are singing.
    Using Yamaha CX-1000u DAC/pre;
    Yamaha RX-V1070 strictly as amp to low end with Terminator 3 cables.
    It is rated at 135w/ch at 6 ohm load of mirages.The second preamp out goes to Forte 4a(75watts/ch at 6 ohms pure class A) Connected to high inputs with MIT MH750 cables. Cannot turn it much past 3 o'clock on dial.
