what about the rt 20p? they are similar to the rt 2000 if I'm not mistaken.

I have never listened to the RT20P. The info I have about them are the reviews I have read read online. I believe the RT20P predated the RT1000i/2000i line. From my research I have noticed many people having to replace the mid in the RT20P.

I'm down in the western part of NC, probably wouldn't be practical what with shipping costs these days.

you are correct they were out before the 1000/2000. i never have had any problems with the mids. i think i may have had one woofer replaced under warranty. otherwise hey have been really good speakers in my opinion. just trying to give you another option because the 5000 is hard to find.

Thank you for your insight, I am open to many possibilities. I will look further into them if I strike building my set.
