Just saw these for sale on Craig's List in Cranston RI. When my dad passed away in 1990  I bought a pair of RTA 15's and they still work great. My mom passed last month  and I'd like to honor her memory with an upgrade . She was a great gal and I'm wondering if these would do her justice? All advice welcomed.

Sorry for your loss. If the speakers are in good condition they would honor your mom's memory. There are 3 types of SDA SRS speakers, the original, 1.2 and 1.2tl. Find out if the interconnect cable is a pin/blade type. If it is the speakers will be either 1.2 or 1.2tl's. We do need to see pictures to help you further.

Thanks for your replies. I 'm sorry I don't know how to "do" links. Just spelling alone pushes me to my limits . . .

I would recommend analyzing your budget. Like Las said these normally go for less. but they sometimes go for much more too. The cost appears to be driven highly by the demand for the speakers and likelihood of more availability of them in any particular area. If they fit your budget, offer the guy less so as to be as fair with yourself as possible. But at the same time, you kind of have to buy these when you can, because these do not become available nearly as many times as there are people wanting to buy them. Another thing to consider when thinking about what work needs to be done to them is how much of that you can do yourself. good luck.

I agree. I paid $1250 for my original SRS 1.2's and I'm willing to put another 1k into them next year at:
http://www.midwestspeaker.com/ .....for upgrades. For now, they are pretty damn good stock. Cheers.

I will ad: Larry don't do Franken-Polks. These will be done with RD0194-1's from Polk and crossover parts list receipts. Cheers.

I have the 2's and 3.1's. I have heard the 2.3's and 2.3tl's. All are fine speakers but given the size of the room he has I would go wth the big boys. Just my opinion.

You stated the only SRSs were the Originals and 1 series, the littler guys are also SRS Polks. That is what I posted to correct, not on suitability for a given usage.
