Got the upgrade bug again, hopefully its my last for awhile:rolleyes:. I have been reading a bit about external crossovers and looking for some advice. Still a novice in all this stuff! I'am buying a second subwoofer and been thinking about using an external crossover for a 2.2 setup. I'am doing this because I want to use my Dared SL-2000A and not put it through my AVR. I want woofers to handle the bass only.

Possible Setup

Dared - External cross over(High Pass)- rotel rb-991- LSI 15
External cross over(Low Pass) - dual JL F113

I would also like to be able to switch the JL's into my home theater easliy. Not even sure if that is even possible.

For home theather I have Denon AVR-3808CI with a RTI setup.

Anyone have any experience with a similar setup? I was looking at the NHT X2 Electronic Crossover and the Byston 10B sub(alot of coin though:sad:). Been reading alot about it lately, but still over my head.

Any suggustions, opinions welcomed.

Thanks

MiniDSP is another option you may want to check out. You'd buy the MiniDSP, then pick a plug in that would suit your needs. I use the 2 way advanced plug in. You can set XO points, slopes, has a parametric EQ function for each of the 4 outputs. The MiniDSP also integrates with Room EQ Wizard to measure system frequency response. Cost is relatively minimal, figure about $125 for bare bones board and plug in.

    Check it out here:
