Amp for RTi12
Hi:
I have a pair of RTi 12's and I am driving them with a Parasound 2125, I have a good deal getting either a pair of Adcoms 565 Mono Blocks or a pair of Rotels RB 980BX and using them in mono. Any comments.
Rey.

My vote goes to adcom monoblocks. I'm sure Rotel would be fine too, I would just rather run a monoblock than a bridged 2 channel amp. Those adcoms are rated at 300w @ 8ohms, which should do an excellent job running your rti12s.Living Room 7.1 HT Rig:

The Adcoms are great amps. Just make sure the Adcoms have been checked out at sometime. There was a bad run of capacitors during their production. (Although, we have to be getting far enough down the failure curve that the mere fact that have not died yet probably means that they are fine.)

Are you going to be using for HT, two-channel, or both (and if for both what is your ratio to HTvs2CH)?

I will use them for both. I have an Onkyo TX-NR709 110w x 7 i will use the Parasound for the rear. I have RTi8 as sorrounds. A CSi5 for center.
Thanks for the replies all.

Since you are planning on using them for both, I would go with an amp that is a little bit on the warmer side if you are going to do a lot of listening to music. The RTi-12s are a little on the bright side for music. I had an GFA-555 and thought it was a little on the bright side for my tastes for music also. I also used to own some RTi-12s and powered them for a little bit with the GFA-555. It sounded great for HT purposes, but agian was just a little to bright for my tastes for music. Of course your listening preferences may be different than mine and you may like the combo. Personally I would look for something a little warmer sounding like a B&K, Parasound, Carver, tubes, etc. to power the RTi-12s if I were going to be listening to any music on them.
