Or even more like the Sansui 500, I think. Also quite similar to the Japanese-made Radio Shack and Lafayette receivers of the mid-1960s.
One may peruse the former at www.radioshackcatalogs.com (look around 1964 to 1966). Some of the Lafayettes of that timeframe were made by Kenwood (TRIO); others... who knows?

    Kenwood:

I think some of the inexpensive Japanese receivers of the mid-1960s may have been made by Rotel/Martel.

Nice pickup for five smackers; it will need some attention "for best results"

EDIT: ooh, yeah! Take a look at the Radio Shack "Realistic" branded STA-30 receiver on page 9 of http://www.radioshackcatalogs.com/catalogs/1966/ I think that's the same receiver with a different name on it; what do you think?

Now that's a nice score. I often think about scouring such places in case I get lucky
  • I bought one just like yours from a fellow in craigslist. Would you kindly share internal photos of the receiver? This one I got has been modified at the back of the speaker terminal with some sort of RCA connectors instead of breaker slot. It does not provide the channel B output. If you can show the details of the back panel and phase change terminal connections, those details would be great help for me to change them back to original. I would greatly appreciate your suppot. Also I found the 16 ohm termnials connected to the ground... It seems not right. The blue color wires were connected, which is the chassis ground point. Thank you for your kind reply. Regards, from audiophile in Chicago.

Yeah, serious deja vu -- given that I bought that very receiver from the redoubtable onebadchad and here it sits on a shelf, awaiting a rehab by me or the Receiver Rapture, whichever comes first.
