I just bought a pair of like new/barely used monitor 10 series 2 for $50. One of them got dropped and it knocked the magnets off both the mw6503 drivers! What should i do? Can I still get replacement drivers that will sound the same as in the other speaker? Is it worth the trouble? Could the tweeter have suffered internal damage from the shock?

I just purchased a pair of MW-6503 for my Monitor 10B's from Polk, $48 dollars each. The only visual difference is the audio feed for the voice coil is no longer soldered to the base of the speaker cone but instead goes directly to the voice coil, this is an improvement over the original, these solder points are a potential weak point, and it also removes a tiny amount of weight from the speaker cone. I have been listening to them and I cannot tell the difference in sound between the new drivers and the original pair on the other 10B manufactured in 1988. The magnet coiming loose is a know issue with the MW-650X driver. Before I installed the new units I took the precaution of using JB Weldbond on the magnets to make sure they never come loose.

The original MW-6503's are hard to find used.

I tried for several weeks posing here on Polk looking for just
1 and I did not even get 1 response.

You will want to buy them new from Polk ($48.00+ tax) or find
another pair of Monitor 10's and rob parts (like I did).

To me it is a no brainer do what I did and purchase the new MW-6503's from Polk, and while you are at it re-cap and change out the resistors in the crossovers like I did with my 10B's you will not be sorry.

Ok cool. My new 6503's will be here this week. Anyone care to hook me up with a link for info on how to work on the crossovers?

Here is the thread posted by Ken A about a year ago on this forum. It was very helpful to me with the rebuild of My 10B XO's http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?118261-Monitor-10b-xo-Upgrade I didn't use Soni Cap Gen 1 for the low pass instead I used an 33uf Axon True Cap and saved $82 dollars..

Here is my story on what I did. http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?132388-The-Job-of-overhaulling-my-Polk-Monitor-10B-s
