Swapping LSI9's drivers

I have read some people say swapping the drivers on the lsi9's improves the image/SQ. I did a test and just flipped the speakers up side down and change them from L and R side. Is there a something "special " when you actually swap the drives or is this basically the same.
Can someone fill me in more detail as to what the theory is for swapping the drivers?
Thanks for any info

Yes, swapping the left and right speakers is the suggestion (I think this originates from VR3). If you don't swap the left and right, you need to swap the crossover connection, so that the frequencies played by the top and bottom drivers are switched. I have never tried it, but now I am curious.

I would guess this would not have much of an effect if the tweeters were perfectly at ear level. Given this is almost impossible, I could see it being to a slight advantage to have ear level between the tweeter and the mid that plays the high range frequencies. Thus the height of the speaker compared to ear level would dictate whether you would want to swap or not.

The speakers are mirror imaged so there is a L and R speaker. And while there is no right and wrong, it is recommended that the L be the L speaker and the R be the R speaker. As to swapping drivers vertically, that sounds like bull to me, but when I had my 9's I never tried it, so I don't know. Never had a need to try it in fact.

Guess then you wouldn't know unless you tried it eh?

I've done this with my A9's and reverted back to its original layout. Your swapping the wires to the opposite drivers is all.
