Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all

IMO, hell yes! I have enjoyed, very much, the times my ears and those speakers have met.Political Correctness'.........defined

Good to hear Jesse, your oppinion is worth a lot to me. Any idea on what may be the best amp/s to drive these with? I have a pair of AR2X's and AR3A's that I enjoy so this should complete my AR needs.

If I remember correctly a pair of AR9's were at a Polkfest and were one of the favorite speakers that year by many folks. I would say well worth the effort myself..."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." $75 is a steal regardless of the condition.
There was one for $450 locally with rotted foam on the woofers and that sold so quick.

You're right. They were phenomenal, and almost "stole" the show powered by Mark's 100 pound BBQ amp. They did "rock" like nothing else and filled up the room. Of course, when Sal put on Bjork--he "did" clear out the room--fast! Can you do Bjork, "well"?
75 dollars is a "super" steal for those. 450-600 would be more like it!

New criteria to judge a speaker? Though I think any speakers would be hard pressed to do that well.
EDIT: Just kidding of course.....my own opinion.--Gary--

Can we assume that you're joking, and just using this post as a way of subtly letting us all in on the unbelievable deal you got?
Those are extremely musical and well regarded speakers. -
I found a couple of those in the garbage last year and took them home, never even hooked them up to my stereo..The guy throwing them out said they had water damage from a flood, but didnt look like it to me and they were in real good shape..
So they sat in my shed for a year and i finally offered them to my neighbor for his garage where they sit now, i hooked them up for him and they sounded great, and i've been kicking myself for the whole time since..
Oh well, easy come easy go! -

the time I got them but.... I started thinking that by the time I sent all six woofers and mid woofers out someplace to get re foamed that it may not be the great deal that I originally thought, there are no repair techs where I live at.
I think I will do it anyhow due to the responses I have received, even if it costs me $500.00-$600.00 more to do so.

Well not really, $75.00 seemed like a good deal at

If you are not comfortable justifying the price, just flip them as it is.
I'm sure someone will pay around over $250 for them.
As I mentioned above, there was a pair for $450 with woofer foam gone and still sold quick.

FYI, the last pair to sell on Audiogon went for $620.

You can refoam them yourself. its not that hard. just make sure you shim the center. there is several how to vids on the web.Klipsch The Nines, Audioquest Thunderbird Interconnect, Innuos Zen MK3 W4S recovery, Revolution Audio Labs USB & Ethernet, Border Patrol SE-I, Audioquest Niagara 5000 & Thunder, Cullen Crossover II PC's.

Dan, I'm sure your current power choices will drive them without issue.I have a pair of AR2X's and AR3A's that I enjoy so this should complete my AR needs.
I think you'll find the AR9's are in a completely different league. If I had a fourth room I could dedicate to 2 channel audio, I would have had the pair Lou was selling in it.Political Correctness'.........defined
